My wife and I along with friends of ours stayed at the Loose Moose July 27, 2013 while touring the wineries. Upon a late afternoon arrival Jennine, Dennis and Scout warmly greeted us as we pulled into their driveway and parked. They showed us to our rooms (there are two and each includes a private bathroom and shower) and let the four of us decide which to take. We opted for the 2nd floor Lake Room and appears exactly as shown on their web page. This entire log cabin is paneled in real wood, is well furnished and one is left feeling a sense of genuine comfort after only a few minutes stay.
After unpacking we sat discussing everything from how the home was built to where to eat for dinner. The hosts offered several local options and we decided on the more casual Switzerland Inn right down the road; the food was very good and the service attentive. Before dinner Jennine asked if we need to store anything in their refrigerator and we placed a bottle of champagne in for sipping upon return from our evening.
After returning from dinner the six of us sat at their kitchen bar, engaged in lively conversation, sipped the wine and ate desert prepared by our hosts. As the night wore on we dug into the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and received instruction on how to operate their Keurig for the early risers. Only, there wasn't early risers because both couples commented how their beds were very comfortable. Coffee, along with cream/sugar, was already prepared by 7:30 AM and we were given a choice of coffee from the Keurig or the carafe.
Breakfast was a real delight at this Bed and Breakfast. Before we retired for the evening Jennine asked what we would like in the morning. Along with several options presented we decided on a simple, yet very good, scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes. Our hosts provided fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and freshly baked muffins for additional breakfast options as the six of us gathered at their large dining room table. Upon check-out Jennine placed a small credit card slider on her cell phone and charged our rooms separately for each couple. After receiving very good driving directions for our next destination we were escorted to the porch for a customary group photo with the standing Moose statue.
This Bed and Breakfast is a real winner and the hosts made every detailed effort to help us feel relaxed in their spotless home. We were impressed with our stay, hosts and food. In fact, we booked another night for a stay 4 months from now!
