Based on Trip Advisor reviews made the booking and we're not disappointed. This is a gem.

-beautiful period home with wonderful details, furnished superbly
-Ridley bedroom spacious, modern bathroom, bed a superb sleep, furnishings just so interesting and superb
-breakfast divine: lemon scones, French toast with marscapone cheese filling....yum....fruit with a fab presentation

This b& b is owned by a very urbane and interesting couple who enjoy engaging with their guests, so the experience was that much more memorable
Both most recently from upper left side of NYC, professionals/executive backgrounds who have recreated a life for themselves in this special enclave and have created for their guests a very special place to visit, to rest, to reflect, to tour the neighbouring region from.

We will be back, no doubt with family and friends.

We can't agree more with all the previous reviews for the beautiful La Belle Vie. We have travelled all over and stayed in many B&Bs, but this one tops the list for so many reasons. We stayed in the Ridley Room, which was spacious, huge bathroom, and lovely outdoor terrace. Lauren & Llewellyn were top notch hosts at their gorgeous home, filled with antiques and in a great location in the middle of Penn Yan. Every morning we looked forward to a delicious and beautifully presented breakfast, and some warm and friendly company from the hosts. Lauren & Llewellyn have a true gift for hospitality, and we can't wait to visit with them again on a return trip to the Finger Lakes. Thank you from your new friends in Pennsylvania!

Room Tip: Definitely book the Ridley Room if you enjoy wine out on the terrace after a hard day of wine tourin...

My wife and I stayed in the Ridley Room. It was our first trip to the finger lakes and Laurel and Llewellyn made it an experience we won't forget.

Pros: Owners make you feel like family, great suggestions/advice, breakfast is amazing, room was immaculate. What everyone else said…

Very minor cons of the room (I’m reaching here):
-19” TV is a bit small for the room size and difficult to view from bed in Ridley room. If you like to watch TV in bed that is something to think about.

- Balcony was great however it faces another house. It be nice to have some thin privacy divider or hanging plants (in spring/summer ). Watching the neighbor wash dishes while we enjoyed a glass of wine was a bit awkward. It only happened once though.

It was a wonderful stay. We will definitely return.

We spent 3 relaxing days at Laurel and Llewellyn's beautiful home. The home is beautifully decorated with antiques and period finishes. Laurel and Llewellyn gave us an informative history of the house, our room, and directed us to attractions and restaurants in the Penn Yan area. Every morning Laurel prepared beautifully presented gourmet breakfasts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Belle Vie with our gracious hosts and would highly recommend to all.

La Belle Vie is truly a wonderful place to stay! The Victorian home is not only very neat and clean and quiet, but it is well stocked with beautiful antiques. Llewellyn and Laurel truly are marvelous host and hostess! They really make you feel like you are part of the family by letting you know all the sites to see and restaurants in the area. Laurel makes fantastic breakfasts, too! Our visit was very enjoyable!

Despite our slightly late arrival, we were warmly greeted by Laurel and Llewellyn, who brought us in, and made us feel at home. They gave us a comprehensive introduction to our room, the house, and Penn Yan, including local activities and eateries.

The house has to be seen to be believed. An incredibly beautiful Victorian with soaring ceilings and… I don't know. Words fail me. The trim and ceilings and floors and doors and windows and everything were just phenomenal. Every room was exquisitely decorated (several including Llewellyn's award-winning photographs - look for them).

Our room (Woodland) was spacious, with ample walking around and storage space. The shower was very nice and modern. The room's theme was evident throughout - wood and animal prints in the wallpaper (tasteful!). I really enjoyed how the coathooks were shaped like dragonflies and the lace curtains in the bathroom had a dragonfly motif.

Breakfast was not to be believed - a fruit course, followed by an invariably fantastic baked good course - the ginger scones are as good as everyone would have you believe (and I got the recipe! w00t!), and the cherry almond muffins were also huge winners. The last courses were on the same level - the mascarpone-stuffed french toast was the best french toast my wife and I have ever had - even though I had no need for extra food, and was verging on going back to the scone basket for another round, I greedily gobbled up the extra piece that Laurel offered. (Pro tip - if torn between the baked goods and the delicious hot course, go for the hot course, especially if it looks like there will be extra baked goods. Then look kind of forlorn and pitiful, and Laurel may sweep some of the baked goods into a bag for your lunch!) We left early the next day so had to "make due" with the aforementioned muffins and a fantastic mushroom, chive, and cheese omelette and a side of bacon. I wish I could make due like that every day…

Perhaps the nicest surprise was the amount of interaction we had with L&L. My wife and I are normally reticent with new people, and we often just make minimal chitchat with innkeepers and go on our way. For the first time ever, we ended up chatting late over breakfast and then again late into the evening with our hosts. I think this is partly due to some of our interests aligning, but is more a testament to Laurel and Llewellyn's open and welcoming nature - it was a joy to talk to them.
