“We didn't want to leave!”
Reviewed August 20, 2011

It pains me to give up a good secret, but I can't keep La Belle Vie all to myself. My bf and I stayed here for 2 nights to visit wine country and get away from the city and we loved it. Lauren as Llewelyn were wonderful hosts who made us feel like we were staying with friends. The house is gorgeous and our room, the Woodland, was spacious and comfortable. I could have slept all day in that super comfortable bed except the delicious breakfast every morning would coax me out if my coma. Breakfast was not only generous, but so so good! The bathroom in our room had nice walk-in shower and was super clean. It was so peaceful in Penn Yan that the sound of horses clip-pity clopping down Main street would lull me to sleep every night. The location is central so we were close enough o check out the Seneca wine trail, have dinner one night in Geneva and go to the Reisling festival in Canandaigua. Our only regret was that we didn't get to take any cooking classes at the Culinary Center in Canandaigua. Oh well we will just have too back again! And when we do we will definitely be staying at La Belle Vie.

Room Tip: The Woodland room was nic, the largest suite the Ridley was booked but we did get a peek very nice!

Laurel & Llewellyn are great hosts and their house is spectacular with incredible collection of antiques. Ask Lew to see his collection of old radios! Dining room woodwork is like something you would see inside a church in Europe or an old grand house in the UK. That was the setting for breakfast and the breakfast was the highlight of the stay. My wife and I really look forward to breakfast at a B&B and Laurel serves a multi course breakfast. Fresh homemade muffins, fresh fruit, then the main course which could include meat, eggs and lemon ricotta pancakes. We stayed 2 nights and hope to go back again next summer when we revisit that area of NY.

Room Tip: Stayed in MacIntosh Room. Good size and new updated bathroom with wonderful shower.

Laurel & Llewellyn where fantastic hosts, like friends that have an extra room for you to stay in. They were knowledgeable and always willing to offer suggestions. The house is immaculate and beautifully furnished with the right amount of charm. The best part though is the breakfast! I had THE BEST lemon -ricotta pancakes in addition to all the other great food that was prepared.

Charming Victorian B & B with beautfully appointed rooms.
Laurel and Llewellen couldn't have been more gracious and concerned about our every comfort. The breakfasts were superb and the coffee excellent.
Our room was perfect in every way, including having a balcony where we sat and enjoyed a drink.
The house is walking distance to two restaurants and very convenient for touring around the Finger Lakes.
Penn Yan itself does not have any upscale restaurants but some of the surrounding towns do.

A college friend and I stayed at La Belle Vie for a much needed getaway. Laurel and Llewellyn were gracious hosts who made us feel comfortable, and yet didn't impose -- a balance that has not been achieved in every B&B setting I've experienced. The Mackintosh room was well appointed; cozy and classic without being old and worn. The bathroom was brand new and spotless!!! Everything down to the linens was high quality, so much so that I read the tags on the sheets so I'd know what to look for the next time I shop for them :) Breakfast was out-of-this-world, and if nothing else, I would go back to La Belle Vie just for the homemade cinnamon rolls. I highly recommend this friendly establishment and look forward to returning. Thanks, L & L!

Room Tip: Mackintosh Room was clean, bright, big, wonderful!

We spent four nights at La Belle Vie and we cannot say enough great things about this fantastic bed & breakfast! The historic building has been restored wonderfully and is absolutely beautiful decorated with gorgeous wall papers and is furnished with very nice antiques. Each room reflects great character! The bed is very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. After a hot summer´s day we loved to shower in the luxurious, well renovated bathroom and enjoyed the wonderful fluffy towels.
The homemade breakfasts were outstanding and a fabulous start in a wonderful day!
La Belle Vie is a great place to stay and Penn Yan is a super location for exploring the Finger Lakes. Laurel and Llewellyn are phenomenal hosts. We are very grateful for their helpfulness, for making us feel so welcome and for their assistance and good advices by planning day trips.
Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. It was like visiting good friends. Thank you so much for an amazing time!
