“What a learning experience!”

We enjoyed hiking on the various trails and then visiting the center to read about the Adirondack Mountains, its animals and foliage. There were also various hands on displays. Great place for young and old alike.

“Lovely spot - well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2011

The VIC is beside Paul Smith's College and I believe is now run by the college since the state bowed out. Apparently they had just re-opened. There are a few hiking trails on the grounds and they are relatively easy and flat with handicapped accessibility. Inside there are exhibits and a guide who was very helpful in answering questions. They hold events, concerts and instructional events here as well. As we were leaving to cross into the parking lot there was a ranger with a falcon on his arm, explaining about the bird to some visitors and inviting them to follow him for a demonstration where he was going to let the bird fly loose.

“Nice Walks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2009

We stopped at the VIC during our vacation in the Adirondacks and it is a good place to start if you have never been to the area before. There is a small exhibit about the history and nature of the Adirondacks which was interesting. Also the ladies at the front desk were very nice and helpful. They have many pamphlets about the area, so take advantage and get info if you go. There are also a few short walks that start at the VIC. We took a nice walk around a lake.
