“Perfect Perfect Perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2014

I am so thrilled with my recent stay at the Silver Strand.

The house has the best location. It is right on Cayuga lake with no obstructions of the beautiful view. On the property, we took advantage of their private dock using their andoranak style chairs and the lounge chairs too. On the wrap around porch, we enjoyed the hammock which can hold two people and the outdoor dining tables. They also offered us bikes and boats too that we did not use.

We stayed in room 2 which has a queen bed, a jetted tub and a bowed balcony. The view was amazing. The room also had a air conditioner unit and a ceiling fan.

The owners Skip and Maura are dolls. They are so welcoming and delightful I wish I lived closer so I can hang out with them again! Maura's cooking is to die for. She bakes crumb cakes and croissants in addition to her unique egg dishes. Every morning, we would wake up wondering what Maura was going to have waiting for us.

If you are a coffee drinker, they offer coffee outside your door for you in the morning. It was such a treat to wake up, have coffee waiting for us, so would could sit back and enjoy our view before even leaving our room/balcony.

We truly were pleased with our stay and I hope it is not our last.

We were lucky and booked this place last weekend of the year. The room was beautiful and had a gorgeous view from inside as well as a stunning view from the outside balcony. Maura and Skip were so helpful. She had a delicious breakfast prepared both mornings. The house itself is wonderful and each room is filled with special details. On top of everything she gave some fantastic suggestions on wineries, restaurants, and other local places to visit. This was my second trip to the finger lakes and first to Cayuga and I cannot wait to return!

This B&B is such a lovely getaway and probably one of the closest properties to the lake, across all the places you can stay around the Finger Lakes. We stayed in Room 1 which is on the 1st floor and has a beautiful view overlooking the water. There’s also a glass door that leads directly to the porch where you can see the magnificent sunrise. Maude and her husband are excellent hosts and her breakfasts are exquisite! We stayed for 2 nights and she made amazing raspberry turnovers, egg & salsa tostada, cinnamon apple bread, and cheesy egg soufflé. One of the evenings we decided to stay in and make our own cheese and charcuterie board with an amazing bottle of Altamura. Maude gave us a lovely board to plate with and she had lovely round red wine glasses for us to use. We had a lovely evening in the living room which overlooks the stillness of the lake. The only minor glitch during our stay was that the water pressure was a bit low in the shower but this is definitely a B&B I would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, peaceful, beautifully scenic place to stay with delicious breakfast!

Our trip to Sheldrake NY was to visit the Hilltop Cemetery and count the many generations of my family that made Sheldrake there home. In our immediate family, Mom having died in 2001 at 89, we have over a100 decendants with ties to Sheldrake, and I can't imagine how many other family's have ties to this wonderful little place, come and visit.

This was our first time staying at the Silver Strand and we will be back again. Maura and Skip are not only great hosts, they are historians and interesting. Thanks for hooking me up with the elder local historian Naomi.

The location is close to so many Winery's that it will take many trips to try them all. The Silver Strand is a timeless beauty that makes you relax, slow down, and to feel special.

Maura goes out of her way to make every morning breakfast a welcome treat and her personal service to each guest was well noted and appreciated. Our room, #1, is going to be our requested space for our future visits. And Maura, thanks for all you do.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good, not a bad choice anywhere.

Beautifully kept historic Inn situated in a perfect location. Maura and Skip are great hosts, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Gourmet breakfasts prepared by Maura are amazing. The wine tour by boat with Skip at the helm was a highpoint of the trip..a great way to visit the wineries. We had a memorable and totally relaxing time. Would love to return.

We stayed at the Silver Strand for only one night, and wished we could've stayed longer! Maura is truly an artist of her craft, and made us feel right at home. The view of the lake was fabulous, and the breakfast couldn't have been better.

Room Tip: Room 3 was perfect!

We stayed in Silver Strand for just one night , we got the upper room with the balcony, the scenery is great, the room was beautiful. We sat on the balcony , drank wine and had some berries , what could you ask for more? The hotel manager Nora was very nice, and we had a great breakfast that included home made pastries, good bread and more. The room we got was not cheap (about 205$ with tax) but it was worth it.

Room Tip: The upper room is the best choice, cause it has a nice view to the lake
