“Price to high- paid too much.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2011

We came to New York from Indiana so we could visit old friends. We wanted to stay at a place witha pool. This hotel was nice to stay in for my family. The only thing I didn't like was when my husband asked the gentlemen at the front desk how much for a room for our family ( which was 3 teenage daughters ) myself and my husband. The front desk said he only had a room with two beds in them and it was going to cost $ 171.00. We didn't want to pay that much but we did. My friends that we were visiting wanted to be close to us so her family rented a room as well. She had 6 people in her family and they gave her a better room with a pull out couch and a hot tub for only 15 more dollars. We found out and went and spoke to someone and they said they didn't know we only had 5 people and they said they could give us another room that was the best in the hotel for $140.00 more. This room would have a king size bed and a pull out couch, which is what we needed . We told them that we didn't think it was fair and they said how about $70.00 more. We had a nice room but it cost us $ 241.00. My friend got her room for $181.00 . Just wasn't treated right, I guess it was because we were from out of state.

We stayed at the Captain's Quarters with a youth hockey team for 2 nights and overall the hotel was exactly what we paid for. We would stay there again if in the area for hockey.

Pros:
The staff was helpful at the front desk and the pool with checkin and check out being painless. Although they sure asked for a lot of signatures (4 different places) because we were there as part of a hockey team.
There was a pool with a hot tub, steam room, and sauna that were clean and an excellent treat for the kids.
The breakfast, that was included, was nice and the area was kept clean.
Parking was included.
Lots of good restaurants within walking distance from the hotel

Negatives:

The only real negative was the heating/cooling system. The patio door was so drafty that the curtains would move with heavy gusts. While the heater work well, when the temperature went over the set temperature, it shut off and turned the air conditioner one. Needless to say, it would cool down quickly. This was a minor inconvenience, but not worth complaining about.

Overall, for the $109+tax, it was a good place to stay.

Stayed 1/20/11 to 1/21/11. Dropped son off at Cayuga Hall/Oswego, called Best Western for directions. The person who answered was very pleasant, gave very good directions. The person who gave me directions was also the person who checked me in-(3 adults, 1 teenager), was very pleasant. Asked if he could recommend a place to eat at close by, and he recommend The Press Box which was across the street. It was very good. As it was snowing, he informed me that there was no parking on the streets, so to park in the front or back of The Best Western. The room was clean and neat, We had no trouble sleeping. The view of the River was amazing/at night and morning. The breakfast at The Best Western was just right. We have decided when returning to Oswego to pick up son, will stay here again. The only thing we didn't get a chance to try was the pool/gym but hopefully on our next visit.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western for Oswego parents weekend. We made the reservation back in the summer, and relied on TripAdvisor reviews to select the hotel. As with most TripAdvisor reviews there are outliers on each end that must be eliminated, but overall the hotel had good reviews. We concur- this was a great choice for the weekend. We arrived on Friday night, after driving through heavy rain we received a very warm welcome by the front desk. After a quick check-in , and some suggestions of where we could have dinner, we went to our room. The room was a nice size, very clean, a small fridge with cold bottles of water, that were much appreciated and a flat screen TV , that made hubby happy. We enjoyed the upgraded continental breakfast, that had an abundant selection. We would suggest this hotel to anyone that has a need to stay in Oswego.

I travel extensively for both work and pleasure. This was a business trip for the Oswego Harborfest. I stayed here and paid the high price ($230/nt with AAA %) in order to be close to the event. Worth every penny. I was welcomed, greeted with kindness as if I were the only guest arriving on a crazy busy weekend, and slept comfortably in the spacious room. I'm pretty particular with beds and towels, and I'm a light sleeper. The room was quiet and all amenities were fine. Yes, it's a Best Western, so my expectations weren't as high as some places I usually stay. I was very pleasantly surprised. Would gladly recommend. Tom and his front desk team were great.

i dont know what it is but Best Western treats guests like crap in general. The main reason to stay away from here though is the crappy old beds. They are worn out as bad as a bed can be worn out. Very thin walls and generally depressing ambience. Staff is mighty full of themselves and really couldnt be bothered to help.

We were shocked to read your review since the entire hotel was outfitted with top of the line Sealy Pillow Top Mattresses in December of 2009. Our beautiful property is located on the scenic Oswego Harbor and all rooms offer outstanding views. We take great pride in our upscale Best Western and offer the very best in customer service.

As someone who travels extensively for work, my experience with hotels runs the gamut. I came directly to Captain’s Quarters from a 4-star national brand hotel in Manhattan and can attest to the fact the accommodations in Oswego were more comfortable than those in NYC. The rooms were quiet and clean, beds comfortable, view of the river delightful, and staff wonderfully friendly. This was a client selection, which can sometimes be a risk. In the end, it turned out to be a good one, given how pleasant my stay was.
