If the day-to-day routine has you down, but you just can't drive hundreds of miles to a fishing village in Maine... I have just the restaurant for you! This out of the way Ossining gem is the ideal get-away on a warm summer/fall day and this year they added an outdoor bar to enhance the whole scene. We love the Nori Crisp appetizer, done just right, and the Caesar salad is delicious. Another tried and true favorite is the Shrimp Luciano, grilled to perfection. But, honestly? you can't go wrong here. Be sure to sit outside and enjoy the sunset. You're right in a marina and the boats gently moving up and down on the water is hypnotizing. There's a few more weeks of good weather left, so head out for The Boathouse, you won't regret it!

Can't say how long this has been on the Hudson River waterfront, but it feels like a while...solid, professional, great ambience, superior service. It's not a place you'd happen upon, so get directions, and believe me, the little effort it takes to get here is worth it. It's not hidden, you just need to know when to turn. We had Seafood Pot Pie and a wonderful pasta dish called Angry Val (for its heat index!). The bread basket and butter were great. Not a kewt place, they don't have cork floats or fishnets, but you know you're having a nautical experience with the view and menu.

This hard-to-find restaurant on the water in Ossining is a real hidden gem. The menu features a nice mix of seafood, burgers, salads and pastas, and the owners update it often. They make the best New England clam chowder north of the Oyster Bar in Grand Central. The food is accompanied by a fresh warm bread, and they'll happily bring you another loaf.

They recently added an amazing Tiki bar right on the water, with a view right over the marina entrance. Sadly the Tiki bar will close soon for the winter, but we'll be back next spring, and in the meantime there is a warm and friendly bar inside. See you there!

The Boathouse serves high quality meals and decent wines at reasonable prices. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a nice dining room, and a small outside dining area with a good view of a local marina. The restaurant recently opened a summer-only "Tiki" bar right on the water's edge, which has become very popular.

Overall, having dinner at The Boathouse was disappointing. The service was excellent, and the food and drinks (we had Margaritas, two appetizers, two different entrees, and a shared dessert) were tasty but a bit overpriced. And, yes, it's "on the water", but, as others have noted, there is an asphalted parking lot between you and the water - not very appealing or attractive. If we go back, we will probably order food from the restaurant menu as take-out (at a 10% discount than if we "dine in") and then take our dinner across the parking lot to the restaurant's stand-alone bar, where you truly are "on the water". All of this is perfectly OK (we double-checked with the staff at both venues), and you get a better view and more ambience at a more reasonable price. You can order drinks at the bar itself, but the cocktail selection is more limited and drinks are served in plastic cups.
