work brought me once again to this part of New York- decided to try this Hampton Inn after a not so great stay prior yr at one in Jamestown. This one was very nice. While room was small, it was immaculate and had fridge and microwave. Bathroom was fine. Air was loud at times, but dealable. Front desk staff was excceptional- helped with directions, restaurants, etc. Breakfast was typical for Hampton. LIked DVD policy as well as free wireless in room and computers in lobby. Highly recommend if in this part of NY. Local restaurants, however, did not live up to reviews in Frommers, Fodors. Old Library was overpriced, waiter dreadful. Hostegah was ok though view was exceptional.

We spent an evening here on a trip through New York State and it was great. Located very conveniently off of Route 17 and very close to downtown. Olean has some great restaurants convenient to the hotel. Rooms are modern and roomy with nice conveniences. Complimentary breakfast is very well run and the rooms all have DVD players with complimentary movies available at the front desk.

I haven't stayed at a Hampton Inn for a while, but if this is how the rest of them are, I'll be going more often.
This Hampton has excellent rooms, comfy beds, big bathrooms, quiet location (although next to the General Hospital, so some sirens). Very friendly staff, nice breakfast buffet and an afternoon "dessert" buffet with fresh cookies, brownies, etc etc.
Great value and highly enjoyable.

Nearby: two excellent restaurants -- Beef & Barrel for roast beef, steaks, etc, casual, friendly, very reasonable.
And more upscale fine dining at The Library.

If you like old stlyle hardware/surplus stores, don't miss the big one in town. Well worth it for the hardware junkie, with some great bargains. As they told us: "if we don;t have it, you don't need it"!

Our rate of $89 per night was decent. Offered ok continental breakfast. Room had fridge and tiny microwave and I believe queen-size bed. It was clean and bathroom was an okay size.

Front desk was very pleasant and helpful. We experienced a flat tire on our way to the hotel and they directed us to a tire store, (Dunn Tires) who were able to install two new tires immediately (20 minutes before closing).

We really enjoyed our one night in this town. We ate out within walking distance from hotel and found people in Olean to be very friendly. Looked like it might be a nice town to live in.

Have stayed at this property twice, both were excellent stays. The first time I had gone on business and everything went fine - proper room type, clean, solid breakfast spread, nice people. Second time was a surprise visit. We were driving through the area bound for Cleveland and the car broke down. Walked in off the street and got the last room in the hotel for a reasonable rate. Had to take a smoking room, but the front desk clerk came to the room and helped us spray it down and air it out.

The location isn't too bad. It's at the north end of the downtown area, easy walk to bars and restaurants. Olean is a very charming town. Make sure you visit the Old Library Restaurant. It's very affordable and truly excellent fine dining. We've traveled hours out of our way to go there.
