“Return visit worth the wait!!!”
Reviewed September 11, 2013 via mobile

From the moment we made our reservation for busy Labor Day Saturday, we knew our return visit to this Adirondack gem would be special. And it was. Owner/hostess Susan runs a first class establishment! Superb food, excellent service, ambiance. .ambiance. .ambiance...our party of 8 tried virtually the entire menu and everyones comment was a RAVE review. DO NOT MISS THIS GREAT FUN SPOT. ..and arrive early and stay late to enjoy a great bar hosted by Susan and served by Midnight Mike! --Bernie, Elaine and our guests

“nice food, shame about the service”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

We had been wanting to try this place for over a year, but found it closed the past few times we were in Old Forge. We have friends that gave it rave reviews, so we tried again and were very pleased to find it open. Unfortunately, we had a less than perfect dining experience. The decor was very nice, but the actual seating was less than comfortable. (We sat in the bar area near the front windows after we finally caught the bartenders attention to seat us). The waitress served us water and menus and then disappeared for 15 minutes. Having studied the menu, my husband was excited to order a particular dish only to be told that it wasn't available. Her accent was so thick we couldn't understand half of the specials, but we ordered and asked for a wine list. she took the wine order........and another 20 minutes go by. Flagged her down again to tell her she could serve the wine at any time. "oops", she said "the order disappeared"...HUH? at this point, we were wondering if our lunch order also "disappeared".

The aforementioned bartender then intervened and we got our beverages. The apparent owners all this time, were at the bar, seemingly oblivious to the actual running of the lunch service. I must say, the food was very good, although my soup was only just warm. The dining utensils and serving bowls and plates were very trendy, but not very functional. The cutlery had "wavy" handles that were difficult to utilize.

There were more things on the menu that we would have liked to try, and I really hate t leave a bad review based on one servers performance, but we probably won't go back again.

“Food is great, but service is poor.”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Had a very disappointing experience there last weekend. Went there to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday and it took an hour to get served beverages. The server was unable to describe the dishes or suggest wine to complement the meal. Beacuse they offer small plates, we ordered several courses. The server put the entire order in at once, so all of our food arrived at the same time. Not only was the table crowded, many of our dishes were cold by the time we ate them. It was challenging to get a second glass of wine, as well. At one point we told one of the owners that we were having a terrible experience. She comped us one glass of wine, but never checked back with us. While the food is very good, we won't be returning anytime soon. Our celebration was sadly colored by a very frustrating experience.

“Great lunch at Sisters Bistro”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Old Forge is always a pleasant visit for this Floridian and Sisters Bistro added a high note to the day. The building features period décor, seating inside and out, and we had a perfect day for sitting on the back porch under the trees. The lunch menu offered a varied selection and we four were delighted with our choices. The flatbread was perfect, the soup of the day earned rave reviews from two discriminating foodies, and the sandwiches and salads were devoured with yummy remarks. I was surprised to read the negative reviews others experienced and we were pleased that our visit was enjoyable in every way. It was my first visit but the others had dined here previously and were anxious to return. The wait staff was friendly, the service was excellent, and I would definitely return on a future visit.
