We stayed here on a spontaneous weekend away, we hadn't booked anything and were looking for somewhere special and were lucky there had been a cancellation.
The house is beautiful, the room was gorgeous and full of character. The grounds are lovely, you can go for a nice walk around the lake and in the walled garden, it's all so charming.
Laura was lovely, she showed us around the house and told us the history of the place. She was also extremely helpful and accommodating.
We didn't have dinner there but the breakfast was delicious.

Really recommend it, it's a gem of a place.

We had a lovely week end in Ballinkeele house. Laura and Val made us feel so welcome, the food was superb and so is the location. It is truly a beautiful and historical place, as well as being very comfortable and cosy. No better place to celebrate our 20th anniversary!

We only stayed for one night but it was amazing. We couldn't fault anything about the house, food or location. It was what the doctor ordered after a week of exams. It was lovely to see a stately home been used as a family home that's what it felt like. The amount of original fixtures and fitting was impressive and a credit to the current owners.

I stayed with friends at Ballinkeele house for 3days. This was one of the highlights of my trip to Ireland. Val and Laura are wonderful hosts and masters at making their guests welcome. The beautiful and stately house is so well kept, displaying many generations treasures. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed. The whole visit was warm and relaxing. I will certainly visit again when I return to Ireland.

We found it through hidden Ireland, booked direct, and what a great choice for Wexford area. The Maher family have been here about s since 1808, and owners since 1825. The current house is fantastic, well presented, with next generation family, Val and Laura , and their small children, just wonderful hosts, knowledgeable and attentive, friendly and happy. What a find, a true country mansion , luxurious in its appointments, history and still a family home which we were privileged to share. Must come again!

Ballinkeele House is a beautiful country estate located in Wexford. Your hosts, Laura and Val, are the 2nd generation to provide hospitality at this lovely retreat. Laura will greet you at the front door and her first question is: "what can I get you?" Within 5 minutes, you've got it. They deliver the right balance of service and respect while simultaneously making you feel at home. The bedrooms are spacious (think Downton Abbey) with 15+ foot ceilings and luxurious linens. The drawing room and dining room are all beautifully appointed and comfortable, you'll want to lean back and chat well past your bedtime. Don't be put off by the communal dining - great fun practicing the art of conversation with people from all over. We talked politics, art, economics, education, fishing, hunting, dogs, etc... The food is plentiful - excellent Irish cooking with local ingredients. The short bread and brown bread are to die for. There are extensive gardens, ponds and fields to muck about in (wellies available). This place and these hosts, make our stay in Ireland. We will definitely go back.

Room Tip: There are only 5 bedrooms; all are huge and lovely (I peaked into the others)!

Stayed with Val and Laura last week in their lovely country mansion , lovely couple who cater for all your needs, Breakfast and Dinner very well presented and tasty, Some wildlife paintings by Vals mother of a very high standard would have thought they should be in a gallery such was details of subjects. House is magnificent and has been restored beautifully. I must thank Val and Laura for their kindness to us and hope to visit again. Hugh and Anna Mc Nicholl Co Derry
