Stayed with Val and Laura last week in their lovely country mansion , lovely couple who cater for all your needs, Breakfast and Dinner very well presented and tasty, Some wildlife paintings by Vals mother of a very high standard would have thought they should be in a gallery such was details of subjects. House is magnificent and has been restored beautifully. I must thank Val and Laura for their kindness to us and hope to visit again. Hugh and Anna Mc Nicholl Co Derry

Val and Laura are wonderfully friendly hosts of their spectacular country house, built in the 1840s. Be wowed as you are given a quick tour of the public area of the house on arrival, this is a special property. Beautifully appointed with appropriate period furniture.

There are just 5 rooms, so this is an intimate stay. Our room was large, with wonderful views of the gardens and surrounding fields. A large comfortable bed, armchair, wardrobe and dressing table completed this big room. The bathroom is certainly small, but with a comfortable shower, but any slight compromises you make here are overcome by the wonderful surroundings. Unless you are lucky enough to live in an 1840s country mansion yourself, then this will be a very special stay for you! B&B is €75 pp.

The entrance has beautiful columns and the hallway has the huge high ceilings as throughout the house. The staircase is a real sight.

Meals are served at the original long table, communally for all guests - although we were the sole visitors on our visit. Dinner is at about 7:30, we were asked in advance about any food allergies or requests - as there is no menu, but instead a lovely selection of local foods. Soup was an excellent carrot & corriander; main course was a tasty marinated chicken served with wexford new potatoes and broccoli; dessert was homemade ice cream and rhubarb crumble (from the walled garden). The cooking is excellent country style, not gourmet as such but full of flavour and service by Val and Laura so friendly. There is a short wine list and available by the glass also. BYO corkage is available also. Dinner is €30 pp.

Breakfast is a nice selection of fruits (great stewed plums!), wonderful homemade bread, cereals, juice, yogurts, with porridge and full cooked breakfast available too. A great start to the day.

You can walk around the massive grounds of the house at your leisure, the only rule is to close any gates behind you of course! There is a lovely walk down to the nearby pond and lake, through the mature trees and down to the fields full of crops. There is a small playground for kids. The huge walled gardens are being re-developed to their former glory and the beautiful old stables and outhouses are being done up also. The grounds are very large and so relaxing to walk around.

We were lucky enough to have lovely sunny weather, the sunny SE lived up to its name. Make some time to visit this lovely part of the world, with so many nice things in the vicinity. Curracloe blue flag beach is a wonder, Wexford town a lovely spot to wander, Hookhead lighthouse worthwhile. All in all a great trip, made so special by Ballinkeele House.

A really special place to stay. A beautiful house with warmth and comfort, open fires and filled with art and atmosphere. The setting is absolutely gorgeous with rolling fields outside. The house combines the comfort and standard of accomodation of an excellent hotel with the atmosphere you'll never find in any hotel. Val and Laura could not have been more welcoming and hospitable. Our breakfast and dinner were full of flavour and delicious.

We also found lots to do in the area, history in Enniscorthy Castle, a lovely beach at Curracloe and we ventured to Kilkenny and did a bit of a Wexford-Kilkenny craft trail along the way.

What more can I say - we loved our stay in Balinkeele, it was wonderful.

We just completed a 3 week holiday in Southern Ireland. We stayed at a dozen wonderful places on our stay. We booked Ballinkeele House on our exit from Dublin. We really appreciated the hospitality of Val and Laura. The elegant manor house of generations in Val's family is both grand and so very comfortable.

We walked the ground around the small lake, enjoyed the early evening fire, and a lovely dinner in the formal residence dinning room.

The couple are so proud of the wonderful estate, formerly managed by Val's mother. Thanks for making Ballinkeele a highlight of our Ireland holiday.

What a fantastic place, and such a warm welcome. We had a fantastic mini-break full of open fires, country walks and Irish hospitality at it's best. The owners went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted, as well as providing what we might need without asking. Wonderfully restored house, with modern art on the walls, high ceilings, velvet curtains, thick cotton sheets and a very comfortable but firm four poster bed. All that and a three bay windows to look over mature trees in the fields. Probably the best sleep I've had in a while, very peaceful.

We only had one night, but will definitely go back again.

Breakfast was fantastic, making sure that we got everything we wanted all cooked and presented to a very high standard.

One to enjoy, more like this please!

Room Tip: Master bedroom with four poster is very special. Nice en-suite too.

We stayed here in August 2012 and could not have been happier. The house and grounds are beautiful and Mary the owner is the perfect host.
The room was gorgeous, with a four poster bed, bay window overlooking the grounds and an open fire. We loved the freedom to explore the house and even took Mary's labrador Pippa for a walk in the grounds.
Breakfast served in the grand dining room was a feast with freshly baked pastries, fruit, cereal and full hot breakfast. The perfect start to a day in the country.
We found the house easily and although it is a little off the beaten track it is manageable even if you are not familiar with the area.
I can't recommend Ballinkeele highly enough for a peaceful break in the country.
