“Amazing service”
Reviewed June 3, 2011

My roommate and I came to the Palms as our first Fire Island trip--we loved it! Everyone was very accommodating and the service was outstanding--probably the best service I've ever had. Ashley, the manager, as well as Bobby and Jason were wonderful--they helped us book massages last minute, called restaurants, carried out belongings to the ferry, and helped us with anything we needed in our rooms. The rooms were very cute, the beds were plush and cozy, and you can easily walk to the Palms Bay and use their amenities as well. Would absolutely recommend to even the pickiest customer.

Room Tip: Inquire about room upgrade if going mid-week

I have been consistently staying at the palms hotel for years now. The hotel is by far the best hotel available on fire island but is also a great place to stay in general. All of the rooms are spacious, very clean with a modern decor and reasonably priced. But the most important part of the hotel is the staff which has treated me so well over all of these years, remembers their customers and is accomdating for everyone's needs in every possible way. Each year i go back, they do something to add to their guests's stays, which is so nice that they are consistently working on improvement, even though none is really needed. If you go to fire island, do not bother staying anywhere else, there is no other hotel that comes even close to comparison.

Room Tip: book in advance - they book up very quickly

I stayed at The Palms Hotel, in Ocean Beach, Fire Island, while writing an article for the travel blog of the New York Daily News - and I can confidently recommend it as the best upscale option for visitors.
The collection of rooms and cottages are delightful. The cottage I stayed in was elegantly furnished and beautiful soft light streamed into the airy accommodation. It was well-equipped with a kitchen, a sitting area with a large television and spacious ensuite bedrooms.
The Palms, which is ideally placed on a quiet spot near the main street in Ocean Beach, also has a nice communal patio with comfy couches. The staff are welcoming and friendly, adding to the relaxed and pampered atmosphere for guests.
Meanwhile the additional services offered by the hotel - such as wagons filled with all the essentials for the beach and kayaking on the sheltered Great South Bay - complete your stay.

Late last summer, my family and friends stayed at the Palms Hotel for five nights -- from Sunday through Thursday to take advantage of midweek rates. We rented two of the suites (Chelsea and Lexington) and highly recommend the hotel. The rooms were clean and well air-conditioned. The service was impeccable. Beach towels, wagons and bicycles were all available for use, as advertised. Also, since there were several kids below the age of 12 in our crew, the location was perfect in that the hotel was easily accessible to town yet not noisy and, like most places on the island, close to the beach. We plan to go back in August.

This hotel that parties like rockstars in the evening also happens to be one of the most leisurely places to stay during the day. The staff is absolutely amazing (see Courtney at Reservations), there to meet your every need, and know everything there is to know about the local beaches, history, cuisine, and NIGHT LIFE. Perfect for a weekend with the ladies, or even a mini vacation with your significant other, the Palms is always a great time, and always close to home.

What a clean, well organized place, the room was just the rite size, and the employees were extremely friendly and approachable. It's welcoming to ages 1 to 100. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel, There is also a private court yard for The Palms guests, the palms bay, where I didn't have the honor of staying has a private beach for there guests, I plan to return every summer.

I stayed at the Palms with my family and we had a wonderful time! We relaxed and enjoyed each other's company in the peaceful setting of the hotel and the surrounding community. The hotelier and staff were exceptionally warm and helpful and made us feel right at home. Our rooms were tastefully decorated, gracefully appointed and spotless. We enjoyed our time at The Palms and will go back again and again. I definitely recommend staying here!
