Description: Art Cafe's cuisine is inspired by the many coffee shops that you might find in the streets of Tel Aviv and Europe, with a mix of traditional Israeli recipes and some new creative flavors. Not only do we have a passion for great taste but we also focus on food being healthy. We strongly believe in the phrase "you are what you eat" so we integrate Organic products wherever possible into our dishes. Our focus on such great quality and flavor has led us to Blue Bottle Coffee, a fully Organic and fresh brand of coffee based in Oakland, that pairs well with many of our dishes.

“Delicious breakfast and very good coffee”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

My husband and I had breakfast here on Sunday morning around 9 AM. The cafe wasn't crowded. Small space and fair warning as the seating isn't very comfortable. Small wooden chairs, cramped seating and a very narrow hard bench. However, everything we had was delicious! I ordered the American Breakfast which consisted of 2 pancakes with ricotta filling covered in strawberries and blueberries. The plate also included scrambled eggs which were very fluffy and tasty, toast, coffee and juice. You could upgrade the coffee for a few dollars extra for a Cappuccino and another dollar for a very large fresh squeezed orange juice which we shared. My husband shared my breakfast but also had an egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant. He requested hot sauce but the place has a mediterranean influence and they gave him a bit of Cherri sauce. His sandwich was very good and filling the sauce was a nice added touch. Vegetarian restaurant. Would go back again if in the area. The only reason for the 4 rating is the seating.

“A little taste of Israel”
Reviewed August 4, 2012

I go at least twice a week to this very special Middle Eastern space in the heart of Nyack. The decor is so homey and comfy. The wait staff young and energetic. I love love the hummus, the oatmeal with soy, extra fruit with fig source is my staple. The salads are all large, with great dressings that come along with warmed pita. Try the eggs with the spicy red sauce, just yummy! They have a Tuesday evening speak out with guests. Great place!

“Should be More of These Kinds of Places”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

This is a "go to" joint if ever there was one. The food is always fresh and simply, but well, prepared. The coffee is above-average and sometimes it may take a little while to get a table, even after the 100% expansion of about a year ago. But the wait is never THAT long and the food is worth it for small salads and really fresh and organic middle eastern food.

The only complaint is that the staff can sometimes be flighty and it can take a really long time to get your coffee or tea, even when you are sitting 5' from the coffee bar, since every cup is made individually and very carefully and you could be 10th in line.

Try Uncle John's Balls (really) or any of the salads and small plates. The toastinis are really good and filling as well.

Outdoor seating is really nice in the spring and fall, but beware the absent minded waitstaff. You may have to pop back inside to say hello and remind them that you are waiting for your breakfast or lunch.

And definitely go to one of the talent nights. Really fun vibe.

“Very Different Menu, Relaxed Atmosphere”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

Sat outside on a nice June Sunday early afternoon during an Artwalk in town. The service was fine - not overly artsy or casual, but not snobbish either. The menu is very different, although there are some "American Breakfast" staples. Prices were very reasonable versus what I expected. Three of us ate for $50 including tip. I ordered the Mezza plate, which was a nice selection of appetizers but probably better suited to sharing rather than making a meal. My wife ordered a malawa (sp?) sandwich, that she loved. It may have been organic, but its appeal came in the fat calories that provided the flavor. My brother-in-law ordered "John's Balls" and loved the goat cheese entree. Very interesting menu, a chance to experiment without taking a lot of risk and a very comfortable atmosphere. A very easy place to enjoy and relax.
