“Wonderful Girls Weekend Away!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2011

We're 4 grade school pals who get together once a year for a girls weekend away. Our stay at Lapland Lake was wonderful! The hosts Ann & Olavi are tremendous people, friendly and gracious, going out of their way to see that our stay was the best it could be. From the very start with booking the Tupa (cottage) to the very end with the follow-up "thank you for visiting" email the service provided by them was outstanding. The cottage was great! The bathroom in our Tupa (Lumi Tupa) was brand new and the Tupa had all of the amenities needed. The grounds are beautiful (be sure to visit the reindeer) and the entire place is quiet and peaceful, just what was needed for our getaway. Our group would recommend Lapland Lake to anyone looking for a getaway far away from the maddening crowds where you can catch-up, relax and enjoy yourself! Thank you Ann & Olavi...for everything!

We stayed for just two nights en route from Toronto to Boston. The tupa (Lapin) was spacious and well equipped - everything you need (but if you are planning a barfbecue, bring charcoal with you as it's a drive to the town to get some). Furnishings very comfortable.

The lake is beautiful - peaceful and lovely for swimming and boating. Bike hire was worthwhile. Reindeer were an interesting sight too!

We thoight it would be lovely here in the winter for cross country skiing - shame it is so far from the UK.

Staff very helpful.

Overall - we wish we had been able to stay longer.

This was the second year my daughter and I went up to Lapland Lake. We already booked for next summer. The cabin was clean and the amenities are wonderful. We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: All the cabins I have been in are nice.

We ( a big family group) stayed in the resort for a summer vacation. The owners are friendly and helpful, and the maintenance person is very responsive, too. The lake is small but beautiful; the beach, the kayaks, etc are a great attraction to both kids and adults alike. The neighbors were very nice, too, and it is a safe place to let your kids roam around without looking out for them every second. ( very relaxing for the parents). The trails are wet and muddy after the rain, and the snowshoe trail is hard to follow during the summer months due to the high grasses.
The tupas themselves are clean, but very old and small. They are also somewhat dark inside, and the lighting is not adequate. The amenities are limited ( no dishwasher; matches required for the stovetops; internet connection is not very reliable)
Do not forget your shampoo - it is not provided.
Despite these minor inconveniences, we had a great time in the resort, and the kids loved it a lot.

My husband and I stayed at the Pohjan Tupa. It was very cozy and clean. The kitchen had all the amenities needed. We enjoyed having the enclosed porch. The lake was beautiful. We swam and used the kayaks that were available. We also hiked several of the trails. We could see how wonderful the place is for cross country skiing and snow shoeing. It was fun to see all the children freely running around the place and having a ball. This would have been a great spot for us to bring our kids when they were younger. I used the sauna on one day and enjoyed it. Being "disconnected" took a little getting used to but it was very relaxing and we were able to read several books! Yeah!
We recommend this place very highly.

Room Tip: The Pohjan Tupa is very cozy. If you require more

Our family of 4 children, their spouses and 12 grand children rented 5 tupas for a family vacation at Lapland Lake last year, and it was so great that we returned again this year. Again, just as wonderful. Swimming, all kinds of boating, hiking, fishing and sharing family meals etc. in this rustic setting made so many family memories. We are looking forward to the same for next year . The Hirovens are most gracious hosts.

It was a long weekend summer getaway for my fiancee and I, and both our parents. We rented the largest cottage in the resort, and loved it! It had a ton of space, with 4 bedrooms, large living room, dining room and more than adequet kitchen. In fact they really though of all the possible plates and utensils, and my mom did not need to bring anything extra! The rooms were cool at night and no a/c was necessary. The best part of the resort is the lake. They provide really nice kayaks, row boats, paddle boats and canoes for guests to use. I was expecting typical hotel rental type of equipment, but they were actually quite top notch, the kayaks being LL Bean ones that we used daily and loved. The lake was extra quiet at night and it was lovely seeing the sunset there. I also tried fishing though did not have a lot of success, though it was more likely my skills were inadequet. The environment there was really nice, we enjoyed the quietness of the nature areas. My only advice is to bring lots of bug spray, the adirondacks are known for its deer flies, and there were a bunch! Would love to come back again, and we'll let all our friends know!
