The food was incredible, both dinner (extra) and breakfast (included if staying at lodge). The restaurant area has full windows looking out to the lake through the trees, although it is at a bit of a distance. Service was excellent but not hurried, so you need to kick back and relax. In evening during dinner, we had live beautiful piano playing by one of the owners/staff members--a lovely treat. Sea scallops for dinner were incredible, as well as french toast in AM.

Positives first - stunning location ( the view is worth the drive). Lovely ambience - rustic cabin feel with fires etc. service was good - a little over attentive but being English maybe that is just not what we are used too. Wine was very good. The food let it down- menu a little limited. Food was well presented but over cooked. Clam chowder wasn't and meat rather dry. To be fair it was late on a Sunday evening and we were the last people in SO I would be prepared to give it another chance but I would go at more standard dining time.

We discovered this lodge and traveled there from Lake George for dinner because of the wood burning fireplace in the restaurant. After a brief wait we were seated near the fire and we were able to have our coffee and desert sitting on the couch with the fire directly in front of us. We had excellent dinners and the service was very good. The owners greeted us and Don, the husband played the piano which was a nice way to spend dinner. It's in a out of the way location, but our drive there was very pretty. From the opposite side of the restaurant vs the fireplace there is a view of 13th lake which was also very nice. Go for the atmosphere and the food won't disappoint...

Garnet Hill is slowly coming back to its former high standard after a series of owners who let it go downhill. (We've been going there for 30 years, since the Heim family ran it, so we have a strong basis for comparisons.) The new owners are obviously making a strong effort. The service in the dining room is much better than in recent years, a big relief. Our appetizer (pumpkin risotto), salads, and dessert (Mary Jane's raspberry pie) were all wonderful. Unfortunately the dinner rolls tasted half-frozen and the entrees (Greek chicken, pork loin) were bland and not nearly as good. We understand the need to limit the menu, and we don't like fancy sauces and such, but good entrees need not be so plain.

I ate here with my wife and two kids the evening before MLK day. It's a great, rustic Adirondak lodge setting. Unfortunately they spoil the atmosphere with bright, garish CFL lights.

The food was OK, not great. Above average for the area.

Apparently the restaurant is also a common area for families staying at the lodge. If I'm going to spend $200 on dinner for my family to have dinner,I expect not to have little kids running around.

Last, it snowed an inch or so that day, and our car couldn't make it up the last hill to the lodge. 4WD recommended.
