“Loved this hotel...and Santorini!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2009

I, too, booked this hotel after reading all of the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, and I was not disappointed. Being picked up at the ferry was just the first of many times we found Georgia and her family to be helpful and warm. When we checked in we were told that we were being upgraded from a triple room to a suite, which was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were spotless, the jetted tub fun and the view from the balcony spectacular. We found the breakfasts to be very plentiful and delicious. The first day the pool was quite chilly-just warm enough for a quick dip, but later on in the week we appreciated its temperature as the days were quite warm and it proved to be very refreshing. In the evenings, lanterns were lit on all the terraces around the pool - beautiful. The courtesies extended to us included not just the upgrade, but advice and help with dinner reservations, allowing for a 3:30 check-out, and servicing our room late in the afternoon after our son's nap. No, this hotel does not have a caldera view, but it does have a beautiful view of the east side of the island, is just a quick walk away from the caldera side and is very quiet and peaceful. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Perfect hotel on a beautiful island. The family-run hotel met all of our needs and was located in close proximity to Fira. Georgia and her husband were so friendly and helpful. We want them to adopt us! The breakfast was delicious. The rooms were spacious and clean. The setting and pool were a wonderful treat after a long day of sightseeing. We can't wait to visit again and would recommend this hotel to friends and family. Ideal for everyone - singles, families, etc.

If you are looking for a great hotel with great service book a room at the Dream Island Hotel.
The family that runs this hotel will cater to your every need. The logistics of this hotel are perfect because you can walk to everything but yet it is very quiet. I have stayed in the best hotels and I highly recommend the Dream Island for every age group.

I spent 2 days at Oia and one night at Fira just to get a taste of different views in Santorini. Based on the great reviews on tripadvisor.com and prices comparison, I picked Dream Island. In general, the hotel won't disappoint you. Very well organized, great staff, great decorations, we had a great time there even though only for one night. The owner Georgia mentioned that she didn't plan to get expensive deco as she wanted all guests to feel like home and not afraid to touch any piece in the hotel.

If you expect to see the view of Caldera, this is NOT your choice. It is facing the other side of it yet you can still see the sea and if you get up 6am in the morning, you are able to see sunrise. Location wise, it's about 5min walk to the main streets and restaurants.

Other than the family, their little PR staff - a 4yr-old american eskimo dog - athena will be welcoming you during your stay!

We have recently returned from our Greek holiday, having had the pleasure of staying at the Dream Island Hotel for most of it. I can honestly say this is one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The family who run the hotel went the extra mile to cater to our every whim, from staying up late to ensure we got checked in on the first night, through to driving us to the port for our departure. The hotel is located just off the main street in Thira, with a stunning view of the lower lying areas of the Island, and a short walk to many restaurants, sights and rental companies. The room was large, with modern amenities, balcony area and internet access in the room. We didn't want to leave at the end of the trip, but know if we ever make it back to Greece it will be the first place we contact.

As mentioned by another reviewer, the only perceived negative might be the breakfast, which is ok but not substantial. This wasn't a problem though as it meant we could enjoy bigger lunches (yummy, cheap gyros!) and dinners everyday. Overall, a fantastic experience and an absolute must for any Santorini visitor.

I totally agree with the positive reviews preceding mine. Getting picked up at the ferry dock and then taken to the airport were great perks (as anyone knows who has had to pay for a taxi or fended for him/herself in trying to find a hotel in a new town!) We purposely opted for the beautiful pool area over the caldera view (You can go LOOK at the caldera/sunset, but you can't conjure up a pool!) Unfortunately the weather wasn't so good, so we never did use the pool (nor did anyone else, as far as I could see).

Only one negative, nobody told us that one isn't supposed to drink the tap water on Santorini, so we blithly brushed our teeth and had a nighttime glass of water for our first 18 hours. It was only when we went to dinner that the restaurant staff told us that the salinity of the water (or something!) was not fit for human consumption.

Also, the walk to town from Dream Island is on a very narrow, busy street without sidewalks. When traffic is bad, and it almost always is during the tourist season, the walk into town is definitely not a leisurely stroll through the park. Be careful!

Were we happy with our choice and would we stay at Dream Island again -- most definitely!

Dream Island hotel wants to be a five star resort but lacks some of the finesse that a five star would offer. This is perhaps a draw card rather than a failing as the hotel offers a warmer more personalised approach. This boutique style hotel is quite new and is run by a family complete with a very cute pet dog. The rooms are nicely decorated if a little sparse but very comfortable. The location is excellent and whilst not on the cliffs offers sweeping views of the other side of the island complete with old blue domed churches dotting the countryside. it's only a few minutes walk down into the main part of fira and the cliffs. The pool area is stunning with a beautiful resort pool and chic outdoor furnishings including hammocks which I have to say I spent quite some time in. The breakfast could do with some improvement with staff being a little slow to re-stock and some of the hot food never re-appearing after it was gone. The owners were very helpful and provided a free transfer to the airport at the end of our stay. Great choice for couples or families with all the perks of Santorini but at a better price than cliff front properties.
