Loved Hotel Thireas! Great view. Breakfast was very good with a pretty large variety. What stood out most was how great Dimitri in reception was. Very friendly and helpful. Truly enjoyed his hospitality. Location was ideal. You will love Santorini amd Hotel Thireas.

After a rough ferry ride to port, the nice shuttle driver (enzo/ancil-not sure) actually bought us a drink to settle my wife down while we waited for the remaining transfers. Ride to the hotel was 10mins maybe.. he took our bags down the steps to the hotel (not far at all) and made sure Dymitri checked us in- very nice owner-saw that my wife was weary from the ferry ride and thoughfully recommended we get some rest in our room then he'd give us a few recommendations around town. Room was larger than expected with an amazing view. Great bathroom with all the amenities, plenty of storage and electrical outlets-you do need converters, as usual. Also bottled water from the min-bar(book a room w/a minibar). Wind is a factor in May and we had to have 1 days breakfast in bed vs on the balcony, which ended up being fine. Breakfast was simple but good. Hard boiled egg, assortment of breads, yogurt with fruit and coffee/juice. Wonderful hotel, staff, location and the view is amazing- close to anything you could want to do in Fira, short walk to the bus to beaches/OIA.

Room Tip: Book the room with the mini-bar.. snacks/bottled water and even alcohol are cheap.

Booked this hotel for my Parents, I stayed in a hotel nearby. When you first enter the rooms, you find them a little claustrophobic, but once you look at the view, you forget about size of rooms. Unfortunately, all the hotels on the caldera have small rooms, so don't feel that you are being made a fool of ! 10 min walk to center of Fira, about 30 steps descent to hotel, which means you have to climb them again, but good considering where some of the hotels are on the caldera. Lovely hotel, close to everything

Room Tip: A nice bottle of wine towards the end of the evening, looking out onto the caldera !

Stayed here in May 2011. Absolutely could not fault it. The staff were incredibly attentive on check in - provided recommendations and a map to get around. Strongly suggest you do try the restaurants they recommend - they were the best meals we had while in Greece. They also suggested a winery tour which was top notch.

While not overlly luxurious the room had everything we needed - and honestly why would you need luxury when you have that amazing view!!! Breakfast on the balcony every morning was a treat, and there was plenty to keep us fuelled for a day of exploring. The location was superb as well, close enough to walk to everything we wanted, but just far enough away that it wasn't too noisy.

As others have said, yes getting heavy suitcases to and from the hotel is a little difficult - but with the trade off for the view I know which one I'd prefer!

Thanks again Hotel Thireas for making our trip such a fantastic experience. If we are lucky enough to make it back to Santorini one day we'll be staying there again for sure.

We booked this hotel but had to change to a different hotel the very next day as we were travelling with a toddler.

It was a nice hotel but not suitable for families with babies or the elderly.

The room has steps inside and the bathroom didn't feel very safe. Also, the balcony has a great view but the railings did not have any grills so that baby could fall out.

Will recommend it for couples only.

We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Thireas and found the staff friendly. The binoculars in the room and a good hairdryer were great touches. They were happy for us to have a kettle and cups in the room to make tea. The room is small, the wardrobe made for midgets and the bathroom is minute, however one is out all day. We did hear music from several nearby restaurants and the disco until late. Breakfast on the balcony overlooking the Caldera was simple but more than adequate in quantity. There is a strong young man to help with luggage up and down the steps to the hotel. Being a more mature couple we did puff up and down the steps several times a day. The view is superb.

Pros:
- Conveniently located with a fantastic view of the rest of Thira, the Caldera, Thirassia and the town of Oia
- Fantastic shower and grooming equipment
- Beach beds and bar tables on a very cool terrace
- Spotlessly clean
- Friendly and accommodating staff
- A very simple but tasty breakfast can be served in your room on the balcony, allowing you to have breakfast and take in the breathtaking view

Cons:
- Travel light - access via a long set of steps from the Main Church in the square
- The jacuzzi on the terrace was not well maintained (probably due to lack of use...)
- All the individual balcony umbrellas were broken - makes sitting on the balcony difficult when the sun is shining in your face (between 3 and 7 pm)
- Terrace closes a little early
