Dimitris, our guide, was excellent. I am defiantly not an expert, but I have been on wine tastings and tours before, and I think this was extremely well organised and value for money. Dimitris creates an intimate experience in that the group numbers are kept small so that we were able to get to know the other group members and Dimitris responded well to the interests of the group. The selection of vineyards visited gave a good overview of the different approaches to wine production in Santorini, and the sunset from Santo wines was one of our most memorable moments of our holiday!

If you are ever in Santorini you must take this tour. Dimitris took us to three wineries that were all slightly different form one another. His knowledge and passion for wine and Santorini history really made the tour memorable. I'm not a big wine drinker and never really thought there was much difference between wines, but after this tour I have started tasting wine differently. The afternoon was complete with a sunset view and delicious dessert. And how could I forget about the Vin Santo!

Dimitris also recommended a place for dinner that he said had some of the most authentic Greek cuisine on the island. The Kleftiko was amazing! Thanks again Dimitris!

We went to three wineries and a local brewery. Dimitris is a great tour guide, giving local facts and information about the island as well as the about the wine. Since he owns his business, he wants to be sure everyone is enjoying themselves. (The brewery was not originally on the tour, but after we all had fun discussing beer and wine, he brought us to the small local, brewery, which we all enjoyed. We finished the day, tasting wine at a tasting room on the beach. It was spectacular! Dimitris is very knowledgeable about wine and wine growing and makes it fun for every level of "wine enthusiast". The group of people from all over the world made this a wonderful experience.

We took the Trails of History and Wine on the first full day of our 11 days on Santorini and found it a great way to get to know the island better. The combination of history and wine was fun and interesting. Dimitris picked us up at our hotel in Perivolos and drove us to Akrotiri where we met our guide. At that point in the tour it was just my husband and I. George, our guide, did a wonderful job of explaining the history of both the island and the archaeological site and of steering us around the many tour groups from the cruise ships. The hour was quickly over, but since it just costs 5.00 Euros to get in, we returned later in the week, in the late morning when it was less busy, and looked around some more.

After the tour of Akrotiri, we were met again by Dimitris and two other couples for the wine tasting. We thoroughly enjoyed the following hours, learning about the history of wine and the differences in the specific types. It was a great educational and social experience. Each of the three winemakers where we stopped was unique as were the locations. During the rest of our vacation we felt like we could enjoy the wine more because we knew what types we liked and we went back to one place to buy some bottles. We also ran into Dimitris in Oia, which was a pleasant surprise.

We aren't usually organized tour types, but we enjoyed everything about this one, especially that someone else did the driving!

We would definitely recommend this wine tour to anyone traveling to Santorini. This half day excursion was a great way to explore the island as well as different styles of wine. Dimitris is a fantastic tour guide! He is full of knowledge and has great passion for the wine industry. It was difficult to chose our favorite winery because they all offer something special. We were partial to Santo Wines, because it offered such an outstanding view of the Caldera. Check it out!
