We stayed at Aressana along with several family members for our wedding. It was an amazing experience. The service was excellent. When we arrived our Maid of honour was unable to check into a different hotel that she had booked and Aressana went out of their way to change our room to a suite for the first night so she would have somewhere to stay.

Every Morning one of the managers, Anna, was at breakfast making sure everything was going well and offering any help one may need. The breakfast was delicious. We liked the traditional Greek offerings much more than the imitation english breakfast we tried at another hotel later in our trip.

The pool was beautiful and relaxing. in total there were 10 of us and it was rare that there wasn't a lounge chair available. The drinks at the pool bar were reasonable and the food was also excellent.

We began our stay in a regular room and it was nice. Reasonable room and bathroom size by European standards. They were extremely clean and there were complimentary treats in the mini-bar on arrival. After the wedding we moved into a suite on the third floor overlooking the pool. The view from our private deck was amazing and the hot tub was a nice bonus.

The Hotel is affiliated with our wonderful wedding planners Stella and Moscha and I would recommend it without reservation to anyone planning on getting married in Santorini or just looking for a relaxing, beautiful place to stay.

Everything about this hotel was superlative. The staff speak good English and strive to help no matter what your request. The hotel itself is luxurious in every way. Rooms well laid-out for maximun privacy. Style mimics the Santorini architecture. The breakfast buffet (included in room charge) is beyond anything we had ever experienced, in quality, in variety, and in presenting the most delicious of Greek delicacies. Rooms have private deck/balcony, air conditioning. Nightly bed turn-down with Greek sweet treat left for us. Complimentary beverages and treat in room at check-in. Refrigerator and safe in room. Full spa services right on premises, tried a massage, was absolute heaven Pool and pool services excellent. Restaurant onsite serves delicious food for reasonable prices. Our compliments and thanks to Anna, Marie and Mario for going above and beyond to be welcoming, gracious and fun.

Room Tip: Our room was perfect.

This is a very nice hotel in many respects, albeit the rooms are relatively sparsely decorated and few of the rooms have views (we had a junior suite -- see picture below) but most significantly, the staff did little to make the experience exceptional -- they tried to do many of the right things, e.g. water while we waited for check-in, but none of the staff exhibited any warmth and at times it seemed like the guests were an interruption (breakfast especially). You can do better....

We are always fond of Santorini. So it is not a difficulty decision for us to choose her as our last stop of this year's europe vacation. We were impressed by our travel agent's description about Aressana, so we made the reservation with the hotel immediately...

After knowing the hotel is not that easy to find and walk to with luggages, we contacted the hotel for pickup service. The response was immediate and positive. So we sent the hotel our ferry #, arrival time and our contact info. right away. A couple of days later, we arrive at the Thira port on time. Our adventure with Aressana started officially. After picking up our luggages, we asked each and every person who stood at the exit with greeting signs. No one was there for us ... 30mins passed ... we called the hotel and then our travel agent ... we were told "the traffic is not easy today. please call back in 5 mins and we will check what happened ..." 10 more mins later, we called again ... no one answered the phone ... so we decided to take a taxi at the port on our own ... When we dragged our suitcases into the lobby, a pretty red hair girl with a name tag of DIANA greeted us. When we told her what just happened, her first reaction was: "you should call us again. The driver is probably on the way. Now I have to call him that you are here". That sounds like our fault ...
After checking in, we saw a couple of ants climbing in our bathtub. Noticing the bathroom window was open, we did not think a few bugs would be a big deal ... However, in the next day morning, I wake up feeling extremely itchy and finding almost a hundred of mosquito-like bites all over my body. Meanwhile, I started to feel fever. We notify the hotel immediately. Luckily, we got DIANA again. She seemed not believe what we told. We asked if there is a doctor that we could contact. Right in front of me, she was joking with the doctor about my bites, looking disgusted and could not believe this could happened in their hotel ... In the middle of her phone conversation with the doctor, she asked: "do you have any skin problem? The doctor will come in a minute and we will hear the truth from him ..." I was speechless again ... The doctor finally arrived. The conclusion is: its were "there are ants or other insects bites, which also cause the allergy reaction." I was forbidden from direct sunlights due to the creams that I have to put on in the next two days ... great for Santorini vacation, isn't it??!! We asked for a room change, but got declined. The hotel still did not believe there are ants in the rooms. So we shots pictures (attached) and videos as proofs.

I finally get better in the last two days of our stay and after a few nights' long pants and long sleeve shirts sleep. So we decided to book a guided tour through the hotel. The staff who made the booking told us we could pay it anytime before check-out. A few hours later, I was stopped by DIANA in the lobby. In front of a large group of people, she asked me why I did not make the payment, followed by "when will you check out? I want to make sure that you pay it off before your check-out". I felt I was terribly humiliated ...

I feel sorry that I have said so much awful things about this hotel. Fairly speaking, many staffs who are working here are nice and friendly. We could feel that they are trying to make everything better ... Unfortunately, sometimes each guest's expereince can be significantly different because one single person or some tiny little things or more... When we talked about this on our flight out of Santorini, we still feel grateful to meet those people who are nice in this beautiful island. As for those unhappiness and disappointment, maybe this time we are unlucky ...

Room Tip: Avoid a room with many ants

The grounds of this hotel are probably worth the visit alone. The pool and private cabanas are the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun, which we did for one of our four days on Santorini. The spa looked well-appointed, though we felt the services were too pricey to be tempting. Our room, a garden view suite, was disappointing, however. It was dark and very Spartan in furnishing. The bathroom was small and the tub/shower very cramped if you try to stand up to shower. Also, the tub leaked every time we showered, so we had to stuff towels under it so as not to flood the floor of the bathroom. We were surprised that there were only two bath towels and they were not of very good quality.

We didn't spend a ton of time in our room, so this did not mar our visit, but I think my boyfriend expected something a little more upscale from a "Small Luxury Hotel of the World" designee.

The hotel is about 25 yards from the caldera, shops & restaurants, so it's in a good location. Just know that you won't have a view of the sea or the caldera from the hotel.

The staff and service did not disappoint.

Room Tip: Perhaps rooms on upper floors have more light?

From the moment we were greeted with cucumber water and cool towels, my daughter and I felt welcomed. Anna took us on a tour of the hotel facilities and sat down to help us plan some outings.
The hotel pool, spa and restaurant were fantastic! Just a few steps from the hotel are breathtaking views of the caldera and volcanic cliffs. Fira town has numerous shops, bars and restaurants. Sunsets are the most amazing you will ever see in a lifetime! One day we opted for a sunset catamaran cruise with Santorini Sailing and it was so much fun! I don't know if I will ever have the privilege to visit Santorini again but I would stay at Aressana every time without question!
