“Small but comprehensive”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

Thsi museum sums some of the archeological findings which didn't go to Athens.
For history lovers, it's a must.
Beautifull artifacts but more explanation could be given.
At time of visit (early june) it was closed in the afternoon.

“Great little museum”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

This is an excellent museum of artifacts mainly from Akrotiri. It's well laid-out and the range of the collection provides an excellent illustration of the level of civilization that existed on the island.
Some famous artifacts are in the National Archeological Museum in Athens but this museum is well worth a visit and makes a break from the crowds of shoppers in downtown Fira.

“Excellent small museum”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

Well-chosen exhibits from Akrotiri and elsewhere.

Small enough to see and absorb without getting museum fatigue.
The exhibits give you insight into the pre-eruption civilization which is hard to see in Acrotiri itself.

“Thera Museum”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

This is a wonderful complement either before or after your trip to Akrotiri. The cost is 3 Euros and is a bargain. Nice size with an abundance of wonderful artifacts taken from Akrotiri, with the rest being sent to the Athens museum. Air conditioned in the heart of the city, it was a wonderful respite from the heat into an artistic and beautiful culture. One of the best hours spent on our trip. BEST VALUE!

“easy and interesting”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

The museum is right in the heart of Fira, is very easy to stroll through, take pictures and marvel at the history! It doesn't take long and has some very interesting pottery some of which depicts interesting scenes of daily life.
