We were extremely pleased with our stay at the resort. It was within a 5 minute walk to the city, where restaurants, shops and pubs are located. Pools, food, staff and building were all unbelievable. I would recommend this place to anyone!!!

A lovely hotel and well designed - very spaced out and not crowded. Nice comfortable rooms in traditional decor with efficient, quiet air conditioning. We stayed in a ground floor room (although most are - as you can see from the pictures posted on here) and it was very quiet. There was also a fridge to keep the water and wine cool! The staff were extremely helpful.

The sea, volcano and Caldera can all be see just by walking out of the front of the hotel and across the road - an amazing view - and a great place to watch the sun set.

The pool areas were very clean - we found 4 located in different areas of the hotel - normally just outside your room. Like others say they could do with a few more sunbeds and umbrellas - although we didn't have a problem when we were there.

Food: Breakfast was buffet style with a very good selection of cold (yoghurt, fruit, cheese & meats) and hot foods (bacon, eggs). For lunch we walked to the local supermarket (about 5 minutes) and bought bread, cheese and wine (we tried the local ones) and ate on our balcony - although we could have chosen the pool side bar. We also bought our drinking water there as you cannot drink the water. We used the restaurant in the evenings for the buffet meal (they also did 'A La Carte'), which always had a good selection of food. Although when we did walk into Fira - a lovely 5 minute walk overlooking the sea, caldera and volcano - there are loads of great restaurants to choose from. Like they say the more expensive restaurants overlook the sea but it's worth it to watch the sun set !

The shops in Fira stay open until midnight - so it was nice to have a meal and then go for a walk

We walked along the coastal path (a paved path all the way) to Imerovigli - it took us about 2 hours, stopping for coffee and photos - well worth it for the views back towards Fira (it took about an hour on the way back). The path is easy to find - find the cable car station at the top of the hill in Fira and then just follow the path round towards the coast ... and keep walking. There are lovely views of the east of the Island too.

We went to Oia to see the sunset (as everyone says it's the place to go) but as you can imagine everyone goes there at the same time - so it was very busy

The local bus service is very good (although we did not use) it - but everyone we spoke to who did said it was very cheap and reliable. The bus station is about 2 minutes walk from the supermarket - so very close

There is wifi - but depending on where your room is and the time of day - connecting to it can be difficult. But if you go to reception it's fine. There is also a covered area with chairs to lounge in between the pools (and not far from reception) and I found you could get wifi there.

We had an amazing stay and would love to visit again and if we do El Greco would definitely be the choice !

Room Tip: All rooms are easily located near a swimming pool as there are 4 pools

You will not be disappointed if you book this hotel. Spotlessly clean and rooms have been recently decorated. There is a choice of pools where sun loungers are comfortable and available. We used the lower pool which was situated near the breakfast area and we never had to reserve beds with towels there. The hotel is about a ten minute walk to the town where Greek tavernas and shops are plentiful. We hired a car for the day with thomson which was €58 which allowed us to explore the island. We spent every evening it Fira where tavernas overlooking the sea and watching the sunset were plentiful. Our experience was that food and drinks were reasonably priced. A night in Oia is definitely worth a trip as the sunset experience is amazing. We also did the sunset cruise with Thomson which was an enjoyable afternoon out, taking a dip in the volcanic springs before a four course meal and followed by sailing back to port watching the sunset.
We have travelled to many countries as Santorini is a place I would definitely go back to, and even possible stay at the El Greco again.

Room Tip: We stayed in 514 and this looked brand new, a quiet room and ten steps and you were in the pool. We...

We stayed at El Greco as part of our family holiday to Santorini and found it to be a great base for exploring the island and caldera. The hotel is an easy five minute walk from Fira's shops, restaurants and transport connections. This walk takes you above the old quarry works in Santorini and affords a excellent view across the caldera towards the volcano.

It's a very relaxed place: staff are very inconspicuous but if you need help it's always there and always delivered in a positive and friendly way. The rooms are spacious and cool. We had a room on the ground floor near to one of the many swimming pools and found this location to be ideal.

The pools themselves - I counted 5 of them but I may have missed a couple - are excellent. They are a superb place around which to relax, sleep, chat and have a beer. The main pool at the heart of the hotel is a quiet place where the most intrusive sound is the multi lingual chatter from the Jaccuzi. The water itself is excellent and it's usually possible to have the pool almost to yourself. Towels are provided by the hotel.

The breakfast is very good and there is a broad selection to choose from. Lunch is served at ten Pool bar and provides a selection of reasonably priced and tasty Greek dishes. Drinks are similarly priced to the restaurants and bars in Fira itself, although it's worth a trip to the nearby supermarket - 4 minutes walk on the left as you enter the resort itself - to stock up on water and other beverages. There's a refrigerator in every room as well!

One tip. Get up early and head to the back of the hotel. The sunsets in Santorini are rightly revered, but the sunrises are superb too. El Greco is a perfect place to watch to sun come up.

This hotel was in a great location for exploring the island. The staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities available were to a high standard. The only problem we did encounter was a lack of sun loungers.

We stayed for 5 nights at the El Greco resort, and enjoyed our stay there. The staff are helpful and eager to please. Our room was a good size, with a balcony off the double doors. We stayed in a 1st floor room, which was good. I wouldn't like to stay on the ground floor with people going past all the time - no privacy on the balcony. The furnishings are a bit worn, and we had trouble with our bottom sheet staying tucked into the mattress, but otherwise all was fine. The big attractions are the pool areas - 5 of them, but more sun lounges are needed, as some people seemed to put towels on them and dissappear! The buffet breakfast has a good assortment, just a bit disappointed they didn't have any Greek pastries, as other hotels do this. We had dinner in the restaurant there once, and it was a good plateful and reasonably priced - just the high beer price is annoying. Only a 10 minute walk into town - supermarket, shops, restaurants, the caldera etc.

Room Tip: The second floor has more privacy if you want to use the balcony (which is good for drying the washi...
