We spent 7 nights at the El Greco in mid June. The main road runs along the front of the hotel but don't be put off by that because the views across the Caldera are stunning. Our room overlooked the main pool and bar and was kept spotlessly clean all week. Air conditioning worked well and our room was comfortable. Shower and bathroom facilities were great. The staff at the hotel are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble and they are a real asset. The breakfasts were adequate with a good choice of hot and cold food. The hotel is a 5 minute stroll from Fira town which means you can spend the evening in the hustle and bustle of town and then retire to the hotel for a peaceful night's sleep. We ate at the hotel restaurant a couple of times and the food was very nice and good value for money (we didn't try the buffet). The only niggle, and I'm really nitpicking here, was the shortage of sun loungers by the pool. Overall the El Greco was a great base for exploring Santorini.

We upgraded from B & B to Half Board but not worth the extra expense. Every evening same dishes with only one choice for dessert and no fruit
Pool area very good but not enough sunbeds for the amount of rooms and guests. Saw this was a problem in previous reviews but thought Hotel would have remedied it as there is entry of space around the pool areas

Had a couple of nights in this large hotel. Although well appointed with large bungalow style rooms with nice surrounds ( counted at least three separate swimming pools) we found it to be a bit impersonal. The breakfast was abundant with variety to suit most tastes. The staff were friendly and obliging. Located a few hundred meters from the main town it was good spot and avoided the higher accommodation costs associated with others in the town.
Our room faced the main road but with little traffic it was ok as we enjoyed a great view of the caldera.

We had a superior room for a 7 day holiday. Hotel was wonderful - laid out as resort style with ours towards the rear of the complex. Rooms at the from will suffer with trafic noise. Our room was spacious, clean and everything worked! Staff excellent and as we stayed B & B we had breakfast and that was good. Location very convenient - only 5 minutes stroll into Thira.

Room Tip: avoid the front rooms - traffic noise.

My husband and I have just returned from a week's stay at the El Greco and were delighted with the accommodation we chose.
Just a five minute stroll from the town of Thira, the hotel is spotlessly clean and very well kept.

Our room was large with a large, comfortable bed, and a large bathroom. There was a flat screen tv on the wall, a (free) in room safe, plenty of storage space for clothes etc, hairdryer and best of all a fridge. The patio looked onto one of the many pools at the hotel. The sun loungers were hard wood frames with lovely thick mattresses and were very comfortable. There was no problem with sun beds either whilst we were there. It was all very civilised with no loud music blaring out and as there were hardly any children there, it was very quiet and relaxed.

The breakfast was self service in one of 2 dining rooms and we had no complaints. Plenty of food with something for everyone. The waiters do not keep coming up to your table to clear it as you eat, as often happens in hotels but leave you to eat in peace. Most people choose to eat al fresco on the terrace.

There is no entertainment in the hotel and nobody annoys you by trying to get you to do anything you don't want to do. It is totally relaxing and a great place to unwind.

Not suitable for the elderly due to steps, nor really for families as no enteretainment or children's reps. Ideal for a relaxing break on a wonderful island.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view. You won't be disappointed.

My wife and I recently spent a week at El Greco and had a most enjoyable stay.

From experience we know that Greek tourist accommodation doesn't always live up to its star rating but while it might not achieve 4stars in the UK, El Greco is a very high quality establishment in a great setting.

Rooms are spacious and spotless - the daily maid service freshens up linen and towels every day. In-room safes, efficient A/C, shutters and good bathroom facilities provide everything needed in a hotel room.

Pool areas and loungers are well set out and provide a very peaceful place for sunbathing. Pool towels are available from reception.

Breakfast facilities are adequate with a decent choice from the hot and cold buffets as well as sweet pastries / biscuits, fruit juice, breads, etc.

The bar area is well located and drinks prices are reasonable. Meals and snacks are available in the bar and although we never used the hotel restaurant ( Fira had a great choice of restaurants ) it seemed to be very popular with guests.

Staff in all parts of the hotel were efficient, helpful and courteous.

Overall we had a most enjoyable stay and our only "complaint" would be a very minor one - the ( free ) Wi Fi is very slow and a bit unreliable the further you get from the main reception.

Well the location is fine, santorini lovely, hotel ok but really a 2 to 3 star, breakfast awful! Guests could possibly be at risk as they do not appear to take fire safety seriously. A dry powder stored pressure fire extinguisher mear our room had completely lost its pressure on the indicator gauge and therefore would not have worked if needed... I made the hotel staff aware 3 times but did nothing! The fire extinguisher is still there unserviced .... Makes me wonder if all other safety arrangements are looked after so poorly????
