“Fantastic in all aspects”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

My husband and I have just returned from a week's stay at the El Greco and were delighted with the accommodation we chose.
Just a five minute stroll from the town of Thira, the hotel is spotlessly clean and very well kept.

Our room was large with a large, comfortable bed, and a large bathroom. There was a flat screen tv on the wall, a (free) in room safe, plenty of storage space for clothes etc, hairdryer and best of all a fridge. The patio looked onto one of the many pools at the hotel. The sun loungers were hard wood frames with lovely thick mattresses and were very comfortable. There was no problem with sun beds either whilst we were there. It was all very civilised with no loud music blaring out and as there were hardly any children there, it was very quiet and relaxed.

The breakfast was self service in one of 2 dining rooms and we had no complaints. Plenty of food with something for everyone. The waiters do not keep coming up to your table to clear it as you eat, as often happens in hotels but leave you to eat in peace. Most people choose to eat al fresco on the terrace.

There is no entertainment in the hotel and nobody annoys you by trying to get you to do anything you don't want to do. It is totally relaxing and a great place to unwind.

Not suitable for the elderly due to steps, nor really for families as no enteretainment or children's reps. Ideal for a relaxing break on a wonderful island.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view. You won't be disappointed.

My wife and I recently spent a week at El Greco and had a most enjoyable stay.

From experience we know that Greek tourist accommodation doesn't always live up to its star rating but while it might not achieve 4stars in the UK, El Greco is a very high quality establishment in a great setting.

Rooms are spacious and spotless - the daily maid service freshens up linen and towels every day. In-room safes, efficient A/C, shutters and good bathroom facilities provide everything needed in a hotel room.

Pool areas and loungers are well set out and provide a very peaceful place for sunbathing. Pool towels are available from reception.

Breakfast facilities are adequate with a decent choice from the hot and cold buffets as well as sweet pastries / biscuits, fruit juice, breads, etc.

The bar area is well located and drinks prices are reasonable. Meals and snacks are available in the bar and although we never used the hotel restaurant ( Fira had a great choice of restaurants ) it seemed to be very popular with guests.

Staff in all parts of the hotel were efficient, helpful and courteous.

Overall we had a most enjoyable stay and our only "complaint" would be a very minor one - the ( free ) Wi Fi is very slow and a bit unreliable the further you get from the main reception.

Well the location is fine, santorini lovely, hotel ok but really a 2 to 3 star, breakfast awful! Guests could possibly be at risk as they do not appear to take fire safety seriously. A dry powder stored pressure fire extinguisher mear our room had completely lost its pressure on the indicator gauge and therefore would not have worked if needed... I made the hotel staff aware 3 times but did nothing! The fire extinguisher is still there unserviced .... Makes me wonder if all other safety arrangements are looked after so poorly????

There were a few dodgy reviews about this hotel so I was a little bit dubious, however they are completely unfounded in my opinion. The hotel is divided into 4 sections each with their own pool area and the rooms overlook the pools with their own sitting area which lead to your front door. The rooms were very clean and spacious with good bathrooms. There were lovely shaded sitting areas with comfortable sofas for lounging out of the sun. The breakfast was the same each morning but you could want for nothing. The hotel was only a 5 min walk from the capital town of Fira, which is a lively beautiful town. Santorini was lovely probably not suitable for children as there is little for them to do. Food is a reasonable price - about 14 euros for a main meal but alcoholic drinks are very expensive, about 9/10 euros for a G&T even in a local bar. Although a small island and local transport looked good, we hired a car which was well worth it.

Room Tip: We were in a room close to the bar which I could image may be noisy if th bar was full at night but...

i traveled to the el greco hotel in June 2013 with my husband and 6 month old baby. The hotel was fantastic. Rooms were spacious and clean with a lovely travel cot. The pool areas were beautiful and lit up at night. The breakfast was lovely as well as the food in the pool bar. The staff were friendly and attentive. You got free beach towels from reception. There is a big Carrefour supermarket just minutes away and fira was a short walk along the caldera. Beautiful sunsets from just outside the hotels front doors. Fira is stunning. Oia is worth a trip to see the sunset. A truly unique place. We had no problems traveling with a baby. A perfect holiday. We would highly recommend

Room Tip: Choose an upstairs room as they are more private. However there are no lifts. We didn't find thi...

Had a pleasant week at the hotel in May. Our room was a standard double, very clean with a balcony overlooking the pool . Free safety deposit and wi fi which was great. The air conditioning/heating system worked well and there was an LCD TV with a mixture of Greek/Italian channels plus BBC World. Our room also had a large fridge which was great for chilled drinks.
As package holiday hotels go, we were generally impressed with the El Greco. It was very clean and quiet with a number of swimming pools to chill out by. The hotel was in a fabulous position, just a five-ten minute walk to the centre of Fira. Breakfast was ok there was a mixture of hot and cold buffet food, we enjoyed our breakfasts, we’ve had a lot worse in other places. It’s a shame they don’t served the traditional sliced meats and all the other accompaniments that go with a continental breakfast. The bar near to the main pool was nice and the staff there were very friendly and welcoming.
At this point I must mention Pedros the young barman, who was very welcoming and friendly with superb customer service skills... thank you Pedros for those nice cocktails that you made for us and for keeping us entertained. The same cannot be said for the restaurant manager who seemed to scowl at customers as they came into the dining area. The only time that I saw him smile was when he was joshing with his staff... Anyway I digress, the rest of the staff were very helpful and courteous
The food from the evening menu in there was very good and reasonable.
Internet conection in the rooms far away from Reception was very poor, and had to go always to the lobby to get a good signal.

Room tip: Go for the rooms around the 300, they overlook the pool. Also take some warm clothes for the evening Santorini gets very windy and nights can be cold for the Medd.
Stay was good overall!

Make Pedros the Manager ( I would have given it 4 stars but for him)

Room Tip: Go for the rooms around the 300, they overlook the pool, try and get an upper corner room as they ar...

We have just returned from staying four nights at this beautiful hotel. The room was stunning with the most up to date facilities. It appeared to be brand new. Rain shower etc. The view of the pool from our balcony was like a post card, too good to be true. The pool was spectacular and there were several to choose from. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was very good as we could walk into town. The breakfast was good, however, I would have liked some fresh fruit. The staff were very helpful when we had to make a very early exit to the airport, providing help with our luggage and a very good breakfast. We had a wonderful time there. Santorini is absolutely worth seeing.

Room Tip: Room 23 was very beautiful. Only problem no roof over balcony if you need shade.
