The hotel was fabulously located, slightly apart from the heavy santorini tourist traffic but yet a short 5-10 minute walk to the main restaurants and shops in Fira. The manager (Alexandra) was very knowledgeable on recommendations from beaches to best sunset viewing to local greek dishes to finding a rental car. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome including ice and strawberries for our own bottle of champagne. Nothing was too much trouble. Note we were there in September in low season where the staff had more time for personal attention. We had a fabulous time and would definitely recommend it.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Lava Suites. We went to the hotel sight unseen and were pleasantly surprised! The views were amazing and the staff was overly accommodating. We were given a cell phone to use during our stay if we wanted to get in touch with the hotel with any questions about the sights and activities in Santorini.
Yes, the pool was small but we did not spend time in the pool since we were so busy seeing the gorgeous sights.

I arrived in Santorini with my teenage son and daughter. I have travelled to many other countries (England, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Turkey, Germany, Switzerland, Israel, ...) and stayed in many hotels and accommodations including small B&B's and 5 star hotels and resorts and can honestly say Lava Suites took my breath away. It was our first time in Santorini and didn't know what to expect. We were not exceptionally pleased with the town as we were driving to Lava Suites, but as soon as we turned the corner and entered the property, we absolutely fell in love with the place. Lava Suites are two historic Greek mansions that have been converted to a hotel. I have never seen views more beautiful than the views from Lava Suites. As you do your research, you will find that a lot of people go to Oia to watch the view of the Caldera at Sunset. We did the same thing only to find that the view from Lava Suites is just as beautiful and a LOT less touristy. The hotel rooms are absolutely charming. They have done an excellent job of keeping the characteristics of the original homes and adding exceptionally modern amenities and comfort. Each room is unique and different from the others. You will find delightful contrasts in the old cave shaped rooms and antique furniture mixed with huge flat screen TV and modern appliances. If you enjoy unique and serene experiences over your generic nondescript hotel room that you can find in any part of the world, then this hotel is for you. The staff at Lava Suites are unbelievably friendly, helpful and professional. Upon arrival at Lava Suites, we were provided with our own personal cell phone free of charge and were told we can call the hotel manager 24 / 7 using the cell phone and that we could receive calls from abroad on the phone! We were then taken to our fabulous room and were greeted further with a complementary glass of wine for me, freshly squeezed orange juice for my teenage daughter and son and a basket of fresh fruit. We were given a tour of the hotel and the different lounge areas. We met another family from San Diego who had transferred from another hotel in Santorini due to a bad experience and had come to Lava Suites. They loved the place so much, they cancelled their trip to another island just to be able to stay longer at Lava Suites. The breakfast at the hotel is beyond all expectation and we had a couple of meals and evening drinks that were amazing. If it was a cold evening, the staff bring you beautiful blankets to wrap yourself in as you take in the magnificent view from the lounge. The hotel manager met with us every morning and asked what our plans were for the day and arranged for a rental car and provided guidance as to where to go and what to do so that we could make the most of our time. She made phone calls and made reservations on our behalf and gave us excellent recommendations for places to eat and visit. The staff greeted us by our name and knew our likes and dislikes by the second day of our visit and catered to us with a very personal touch. The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect. It is located walking distance from both Firostefani and Fira. The swimming pool is small, so if you are looking for a grand pool experience, you won't find it here, but keep in mind that you are on a beautiful island surrounded by water and will be spending most of your time enjoying the lovely beaches and not sitting by a pool. But if you like to sit around and enjoy the view of Santorini, you will be very pleasantly surprised. As you can see we absolutely loved the hotel, the location, the staff. The hotel made this a perfect holiday destination for us. I literally can't say enough nice things about Lava Suites. We are looking forward to going back there with my husband and other son who were not able to join us on this trip.

I've never written a review before, but the staff at Lava Suites deserve a great review! The suites I stayed at with friends were beautiful, and the staff was incredibly helpful. I lost my cell phone, and the staff went above and beyond by spending hours calling their connections to help try and find it. The hotel does have a small pool, but being on an Island in the Mediterranean, we wanted to spend the whole time swimming in the sea anyways. The hotel also has an AMAZING breakfast included, the best I had over my 3 weeks in Europe. If I ever go back to Santorini, I will want to stay here again!

We stayed in the Moonstone Suite at Lava Suites & Lounge. We were very impressed with the service provided here, the Suites Manager even organised a porter to help us with our bags at 4.30 am when we left! We received a complementary bottle of wine and a bowl of fresh fruit on arrival.

The outdoor lounge had amazing views looking out over the caldera. We enjoyed our bottle of wine in the outdoor lounge watching the sunset across the island - spectactular!

The suite itself was very spacious with large bathroom, walk in dressing room, 2 large double rooms and the most comfortable beds we had slept in on our whole European trip!!!

Wish we could have stayed longer! Would love to go back :)
