After wandering to the entrance of Rastoni late one afternoon and a discussion with Wilmington who was touting (nicely) :-) for business, we decided to venture in for Cocktail. We were shown to a table on the upper deck and were served delicious cocktails by our friendly and beautiful waitress. We then decided to have some entree serves of food and glasses of wine while we watched the sunset over Caldera, the food was good "Greek" style, cooked and presented very well. International menu is also available. Before we knew, it was late evening and we were very pleased with our service. After a big "Manhug" for Wil. as we left, we retired to our terrace very happy customers, Recommended !!!!!!!!

Upon arrival at Rastoni, the waiter brought over bread and dip and a large bottle of still water that we did not order (and did not see them open). Since we were in the mood for sparkling water, we asked for that and after looking at us like we were crazy, he rudely explained that they only had "small" bottles. We said, "O.K., we'll take the small bottles" and the waiter begrudgingly left and returned with two small bottles. We thought we were good to go. Suddenly, it started pouring rain and they moved us inside, which we thought was nice. When we got to our table, we noticed that behind the counter, there were about 15 open and half-full bottles of the water that we declined when we first arrived. That seemed very suspicious.

The food was just O.K., very heavy and greasy. There are MANY, much better restaurants with the same view, within an arm's length of Rastoni. Try one of those.

When the bill arrived, we were charged for TWO servings of bread and the "small" waters were 7 or 8 Euro (I can't remember exactly). After reading other reviews,. I see that the bread is a standard procedure at Rastoni. Such a practice may have been somewhat acceptable years ago, but this is a joke. It's not the money, it's the principle.

This was the only disappointing meal we had in our 7 days in Greece.

We found this place on our way to another restaurant, the menu looked good at the door and the restaurant was busy. Upon sitting down we were given chilled bottled water along with bread and dip. Our waiter was very friendly, my girlfriend ordered the chicken and pesto gnocchi, while I had the lobster and red capsicum risotto. Both meals were priced around €20 and we couldn't fault either of them. Delicious! Just as we were about to order dessert, our waiter came with a large slice of Apple Tea Cake and big scoop of chocolate ice cream for us to share, advising it was on the house which was a very nice touch. When we received our bill we were surprised to have been charged for both the water and bread that they had given to us upon arrival. However they were only €2 each and we probably would have ordered them anyway.

I love this place, me and my Australian friend enjoyed having dinner there...The food (The Calamari and Aubergine were excellent), authentic white wine, the service (The managers and the waitress are very polite and friendly) and the dreamy view highlighted our stay in Fira, Santorini. A little pricey but for sure worth the money. Will definitely be back.

We went for dinner at Rastoni a week ago. Having in mind the good location and the good gastronomy of Santorini, we thought this restaurant would have been a good one.
Firstly we got our salad, which was poor and with quite not good ingredients, not tasty at all. Secondly we got some tomato balls, cooked in bad oil and very fatty.
Than came the main course, I had grilled "lamb chops" covered in cream (italian alla panna). This was quite disgusting and quite not healthy. The lamb chops were almost fat and bone, adding "alla panna" cream made this quite a nightmare. My girlfriend had a kind of chicken fillet which was worse than the street chicken souvlaki. They used the cheapest chicken fillet of the worse market I guess. So we left with empty stomach.
The service was good, but when the food is so bad the service doesn't count any more...and YES, they charge for the bread, and this is ridiculous in such places.
Thus, Rastoni was a big disappointment...
