“Stunning views, great hotel”
Reviewed August 21, 2013 via mobile

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at this hotel. We had room 12 which was quite a long way down from the top but we did expect a lot of stairs after reading numerous reviews. The view from our private balcony was just incredible. Breakfast was excellent, especially compared to other hotels in Europe. You could order as much as you wanted from the list. Hayley was very friendly & also the woman on the front desk. She helped us with tours & directions to many places. Would definitely stay there again.

There is nothing negative I can really say about this hotel. The rooms where perfect, the service was very friendly, location is smack bang in the middle of shops and restaurants, and the views were perfection. As soon as your open your balcony doors to the ocean you see the Volcano and on either side of your room the Caldera views of all the other hotels and apartments painted in white and blue. Even better at night all lit up.
This hotel even had a pool, there are alot of steps to walk down/up for it, but well worth it. The buffet breakfast was served even higher up above the hotel at their rooftop restaurant, so stunning.
I would 100% stay here again. Perfect for a romantic getaway or even with friends.

We really enjoyed our stay at Panorama - excellent location, friendly, straightforward staff, plentiful breakfast, amazing views and cute little suite by the pool.

SERVICE

Terrific!

One example...We arrived crazy early by Fira standards (7 am) and stopped by the hotel to see if we could store our bags until check in which was a number of hours later. The staff obliged and said they would call us by 11, we were pleased with this and headed off to grab a morning coffee. To our surprise and delight we got a call at 8 am and were checked by 8:15.

The only negative, which seems trivial is we never received water in our room.

BREAKFAST

Plentiful and Satisfying breakfast. Each day you are provided with check list of assorted items to choose from and it is extensive. I loved the fruit, greek yogurt, french toast and coffee.

ROOM

We stayed in the petite suite and it had a view to die for. The room itself was tidy but could do for some touch ups and wd40 on the hinges. The suite has a little cooking area and they provide you with necessities to make an easy meal. The bed was comfy and nice to come home to after a long day.

While I liked our room I would not recommend it. It was directly in front of the pool and the walkway toward the pool and breakfast was past our room. We did not have a private balcony and being in front of the pool we were privy to all sorts of antics and noises.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony and stay away from the suites near the pool

I've travelled worldwide and this hotel is perfect.

You cannot find a better location that is complete central and yet so quiet.

I don't even need to tell you about the view from your room. Spectacular!

Breakfast is amazing. You order whatever you want and it's included in the price. The pool is awesome. This is such a boutique hotel that there are never too many people at the pool or anywhere else for that matter. Get a room with a private balcony....you will not regret it.
You'll find yourself not wanting to leave the hotel or pool area...which is totally fine.

Great location, nice management, amazing views. Yes - there are a lot of steps, but this comes with staying on the Caldera... we had a 'petite suite' which was basically a nice room with a fridge and small cooking area - but the real treat is the balcony ... perfect view of the water, the sailboats, the volcano, etc. The staff were wonderful with great recommendations and willingness to help make it a special stay. Every day was a custom breakfast. We had a night flight, so they let us use the showers by the pool for our last day 'clean-up' before we flew out.

Room Tip: Expect a lot of steps, but then enjoy the views when you arrive.

everybody seems to be complaining about the steps, so this might be helpful: if you book the honeymoon suite (which happens to be very nice with a terrace overlooking the caldera and amazing sunsets), you don't have to deal with the steps. the lift goes down all the way, and breakfast is in the cafe on the top floor. taking the steps is only necessary when you go down to the pool. it was lovely at panorama, very friendly and helpful staff, extremely clean, very spacious. definitely one of the best places in town!

Room Tip: book the honeymoon suite if you don't want to walk up an down the steps all the time

Pro
The view from our balcony was absolutely amazing.....the pictures in the magazines are true! I believe the sunset views are better than Oia because there is more foreground, like the islands and ship and boat activity far below.
The hotel location is approximately 300 meters from the bus hub in Fira. All bus travel originates in Fira, so it is perfect. We bused and hiked to many remote parts of the island and did not need to rent a car.
The service was excellent. All of the staff did everything they could to make our three night stay as comfortable as possible. Hayley was our waitress, bar tender, "tour guide", and friend. What a perfectly lovely young lady. I will never forget her smile.
Con
Before choosing your room, read the details of its location very carefully. We intentionally chose a room well below the hustle and bustle of the street above. After a short elevator ride four floors down, we needed to walk down many steps to our room and more to the pool area. Of course, down is not bad; but you had better be in good shape to walk back up! If you don't mind the exercise, these Studio Suites are for you. I would go back in a second!
