Me and my boyfriend has just returned from Santorini and we were fortunate to spend half of our vacation in Villa Irini. We were very pleased with the room and the amenities in general.Irini and her family were very hospitable and were ready to answer all of our questions about the island. They even helped us in renting a car for a very reasonable price.
Don't hesitate to stay here as you will be granted with the most magnificent sunset ever together with great hospitality!

Villa Irini...I almost don't want to write this review because I really want it to be my (and a few others') secret but I have to be fair - I use trip advisor a lot and it's only right that I share this treasure find with you.

Villa Irini is a special place mainly because of the view: it is what I imagine heaven to be like! By day 7, we still found ourselves gasping loudly at the view every morning and shaking our heads in disbelief at the sunset every evening. It is quite simply stunning. We have have spent many hours this holiday sat on our terrace eating breakfast/lunch, drinking wine and chatting until the sky is black. Who needs tv and films hen you can look at this view? We also watched the sunset from Santos Wines (great experience to wine taste at sunset), Fira, Kamari and Oia and our terrace was the best view on the island in our opinion.

Villa Irini itself is great - spotlessly clean, quiet, free wifi, continental breakfast, fast taxi service on demand, lovely hosts. We stayed in room 1 and we feel this was the best option. We liked being a little away from the hustle and bustle of Fira - we made good use of the bus service to travel round the island and taxis are good value (7€ into Fira). We did walk one day and it took us 30 mins (3km) so no problem if you are fit and healthy.

So, places we visited on our holiday...
1) Oia is the most famous place for its beauty but we found it crowded, commercial and catered very much to tourism. You have to visit though as it is gorgeous with again, beautiful views and good quality restaurants, high end boutique hotels, plenty of monied visitors but there were too many people posing for us! This is the place to get married though - very beautiful. Sunsets were crowded though.
2) Perissa beach - stunning. Nice, clean beach, clear sea. We paid 8€ for a lounger for the day.
3) Kamari - not as nice in our opinion but worth a visit. Some good bars and little shops but we had a dreadful meal in a beach restaurant here and didn't like the amount if British (mainly because we are British and so it was too close to home for us!). We would really recommend the open air cinema though - a really lovely experience for a quieter night. Doors open at 21:50 so don't make our mistake of turning up 30 mins early hoping to get a good seat as you will just be hanging around waiting otherwise.
4) wine tasting at Santos Wines. Great experience at sunset - take in the glorious views whilst sampling lots of delicious wines. Get there by 18:30 though to ensure you have a good view. We arrived at 19:00 and the best tables were already taken. It was a swanky crowd when we visited so put on a decent outfit - we were in our beach gear and felt a bit scruffy!
5) nightlife in Fira - best bars are Tango Bar, Casablanca and Koo Bar. A cool and trendy crowd can be found in all 3 and we quickly got used to the posing/miserable faces (great for people watching!) but by 23:00 and after a few drinks, everyone tended to loosen up and enjoy themselves! By the way, we are 2 single girls in 30s so Santorini is not just for the couples!
6) the food - really recommend the fried tomato fritters, vine leaves, stuffed peppers, fave, feta cheese, souvlaki, moussaka and many more. Great food experiences are to be had in Santorini.
6) perivolos beach - great beach, free loungers. Not as nice as Perissa though.

Be wary of...
1) when you catch any bus, you must tell the conductor where you want to get off. This is because the buses don't always follow the same route if people are not getting off there and they do not stop at the bus stops unless you tell them. The buses get crowded so tell the conductor as soon as you get on.
2) the quad bikes and motorbikes seem to be the thing to hire. We saw a few people with ams in slings, big plasters on legs and cuts/grazes - a couple we spoke to spent a night in hospital following a crash on their quad bike. Scary stuff and hire at your peril.
3) Santorini is a little windy (we were lucky with the wind apparently!) so sitting on the terrace can get chilly - ladies, take scarves and a couple of cardigans with you if you're sat on the cliff edge for dinner/drinks.
4) Santorini is expensive. Expect to pay 10/12€ for cocktails or a mixer drink, especially if you're in a bar overlooking the Caldera.
5) there is no sunset to be seen in KamariPerissa/Perivolos so make sure you always come back to Fira/Oia for 19:00!

All in all we've had a wonderful holiday and can highly recommend Villa Irini. The ONLY thing we could say as a 'fault' is that although Villa Irini is quiet (no children, had pool to ourselves most days), it is on a main road so you will hear traffic/bikes going past throughout the day. It's not by any means noisy though and it won't keep you awake at night (I've had the best nights sleep in months while I've been here). But just be aware - yes, it's out of Fira but don't expect it to be situated in the middle of nowhere in an indylic location.

However, on a plus point, we also spoke to a lot of Greeks while we've been here and they said that this is the best value for money and best view on the island - we really don't feel we could have got better accommodation for what we paid.

I don't believe in returning to the same place but I would definitely return here and stay in the same apartment. I've been home 2 weeks now and I still have a yearning for that terrace and that sunset. It was a truly magical experience.

amazing place, we were here 10 days and if we will be back in Santorini it will be in this place for sure. Amazing and breath taking view on the sea, the rooms are located on top of the west coast of the island in front of the volcano, the sunset here is much better even than in Oia!!!
the location is out of the confusion and perfect to reach every city (Thira 5 min, Kamari and Perissa both 15 min, Akrotiri-Read beach 15 min also) the rooms are provided full service with tv, free wifi, kitchen...delightful!!!
The staff is composed by a family, they are very kind and ready to satisfy any need or answer to any concern.
BREATH-TAKING!

Room Tip: room number 3! :)

I stayed at Villa Irini in July 2013 for 3 days. The view from the room was beautiful, including the caldera, the volcano and the deep blue of the sea! The room was nice and typical white of Aegean Sea. The bathroom had jacuzzi. It was very clean. The swimming pool was nice but a bit small. The only negative point of the hotel is that it is far from Fira, about 3 kilometres, it is actually located in Messaria, on the central road from Fira to Pyrgos. But I really enjoyed the view and the traditional room. Maybe I would change the orange color of the wall behind the bed.

I got married here three years ago and went back for two weeks last year .the owner irini and her father and staff were most helpful and pleasant .villa irrini is around half an hours walk from fira or a three minute taxi ride .This place is really clean and well built and maintained by irinis dad what a great job he made .The pool is usually quiet a good place to spend a day with amazing views .We were in room 8 the best for sure nice balcony .There is a bakery across the road and a liddle supermarket two minutes down the road and plenty more supermarkets everywhere . We hired a 300cc quad from motorinn in fira for two weeks for £360 this includes no quibble insurance so you pay nothing if it gets damaged. This is a great way to see all the different resorts on the island many times over although get a 250cc or above or all the traffic will overtake you making it a little more dangerous .Senior zorbas Mexican Is almost next door we got takeaway after a long day exploring and sat on our balcony eating as the sun went down ,stunning . Im going back in three weeks same place same room . I have looked for other places to stay in santorini I cant find better value for money anywhere .I hope this review helped someone .cheers rab

We arrived at the villa by car, there is a parking where you can leave your car no extra cost.
Studio was cleaned every day, towels were changed every day. We had studio number 9 and the view was great. All studios have great view. There is also a pool where you can swim. Overall we enjoyed the stay.

P.S. About the smell in the rooms. There is a smell but this is because the studios are built in the rock. It is not disturbing and didn't bother us.

A fantastic spot...not far from the main port, airport and santos winery.easy access to Thira ,Oia and beaches. Bakery,Mexican restaurant and mini market at your door step. An excellent spot for those wanting their weddings and honeymoon here. Rooms are spotlessly clean with the most amazing views of the caldera and sunsets, which you have to yourselves. It is quiet and away for the hassle and bustle of the tourist spots but not too fair away should you want to go there. This family run business is the best and would recommend for weddings honeymoons or holidays.... The best feature would have to be the pool and the views from it .....love love love it
