We went to this restorant in 2011 by recommendation from out hotel. The waiter was rude and the service felt rushed. When we got our bread before our meal and asked if we get butter with it the owner replied "this is not America". When I said we were from Canada he said "same thing". There was no need for attitude from a business especially when it was not called for.

They appeared to have lost their passion for their business. Unfortunate.

We only stayed on Santorini for 2 nights, and were dismayed at first by how touristy and overpriced it was. Then we discovered Nikolas taverna down a back alley - no spectacular views but who needs them when the food is this good. Everything was excellent, from the beetroot salad to the veal stifado. Liked it so much that we ate there both nights. Great value for money, too. It was very busy both nights, but the staff were efficient and friendly.

We ate at Nikolas twice in our time at Fira and loved it both times. Nikolas greeted us like old friends both times which made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a Greek tavern.
The food was great. Both times we had the sensational Saganaki cheese. We also tried the meatballs, squid, stuffed zuchinis, and oven roasted lamb with noodles, each of which were great.
On both occasions with drinks, entree, and two mains the bill was under 30€.
We would go back for sure, and will be recommending it to our friends.

In Santorini, we are often so swept away with seeking a perfect view that we forget about the wonderful smaller taverns - where the focus is on the food, with reasonable prices. This place has no views, and I'd imagine could get very warm in the summer months, but October was perfect - attentive service, and high quality meals.

What a feast! Fava, tomato balls, greek salad, saganaki, stuffed calamari, 2 meat dishes with wine and beer - all at a very reasonable price too! And so-o-o tasty!
Dine early or be prepared to wait in a queue!
