Mystique is a small (18 room) resort built into the cliffside of Oia, on Santorini. All the rooms are traditional cave rooms, which make them very unique. We had one of the smaller rooms, but didn't mind since our balcony was huge and so was the bathroom. The beds were super comfy and everything meticulous and clean.

There are LOTS of stairs here. We counted 71 to get from our room to the street. And not simple stairs either. High, wide stairs. So leave the heels at home. It's a workout for sure.

The staff could not have been friendlier and more accomondating. What ever you needed they got for you. Our flight leaving the island had us leaving the resort at 5:30 am. The staff had coffee brought to our room, plus gave us boxed breakfast for the ride to the airport.

The food was wonderful and breakfast was included in our price.

They have someone on staff to give spa treatments, but they come to your room. My room was not big enough for a spa treatment so never had one.

The view was spectacular. I could have sat at the hotel all week, but the island was so pretty we forced ourselves to leave.

The location of the resort is perfect. Only a few min walk into town, but secluded enough so you didn't get tourist walking through the resort taking pictures.

The pool is small, but it was never crowded, and was perfect to just cool off. There was a nice breeze all the time, so we never felt too hot.

All in all a perfect time! Hotel heaven!

I stayed at Mystique for a week with my husband. The location is absolutely out of this world. The view of the sea and volcano will take your breath away. Every room has a balcony with panoramic sea views and the cliff-top terraced restaurant where you eat breakfast and dinner is too beautiful for words. The food was amazing, the service fantastic and I had the best holiday I have ever had. The town of Oia, which is a few minutes walk away, is wonderful too, with lots of great restaurants and bars, many of which are ideally located to watch the spectacular sunset. We went on a semi-private catamaran sunset tour - organised by the hotel - which I would heartily recommend. And if you want to swim in the sea, there is a path a few minutes walk from the hotel (although it is a very steep climb). The swimming pool, although quite small, is in a beautiful location, and I felt like I was in paradise every time I took a dip, cooling off from the heat of the day and staring out to sea.
For the first few nights we stayed in one of the standard rooms, which was lovely, but a tad small and the bathroom wasn't great. But I know this is unavoidable because of the way the hotel is built into the cliff. After that we were upgraded to one of the best rooms, which was fantastic. We had a steam room, jacuzzi and gym in our room.
Restaurants I would recommend are Roka and the fish restaurant in the port of Amoudi.
Overall, this was the best holiday I have ever been on. I travel a lot with work and have stayed in some of the best hotels across the world, but this truly topped the lot. I almost cried when I had to come home. The hotel is not cheap, but I think worth every penny.

Mystique was a perfect place for our honeymoon. I wanted to comment of some of the negative statements about the hotel. I think many of them stem from not being open to anything outside of someone's 'comfort zone'. The pool is on the small side, but I don't think a large pool can be built into the mountain, plus, there was never more than 3-4 people in there - it felt like there was a couple code - everyone was respectful of people's time in the pool - it seemed. But it was perfect and always the right temperature. The hotel is amazing, private, on the edge of Oia...so it's really quiet and there aren't tourists walking around the hotel exploring because it's off the main street but within 2 mins of walking you are at the pedestrian only area of Oia. The staff was very accommodating and it was always the same people so they really got to know you, your needs, etc. They gave the best advice on where to go based on what you were looking for and really took that job seriously. The complimentary laptops with comp internet was amazing and I know our friends and family really enjoyed hearing from us. The breakfast each morning was a dream! The pancakes were a welcome surprise and we ordered them every morning. There were tons of choices and they let you order as much of whatever you wanted to get the full experience. The staff, the view, the rooms, the privacy made this hotel great. And the fact that it's run by Starwood, you know you can expect to get organized, top of the line treatment.

The only negative was the jacuzzi in the bathroom - at first we were excited about it but the bathroom was so muggy all the time and my glasses were constantly fogged up in there...and that is the only location of a mirror - so for a girl with curly hair it was difficult to get pretty with all that humidity in there :)

Other than that it is a top of the line resort and they really will do anything to accommodate you. When we drove around other parts of the island or saw other hotels we looked at in Oia, we kept saying, "we are SO happy we didn't stay there and that we picked the Mystique"....BIG tip...don't always go to the left of the hotel for dinner...there are great restaurants to the right...like Santorini Mou...I almost don't want anyone else to discover it...but we became regulars there.

We loved Mystique!!!!

Amazing hotel!! The views cannot be beat. The staff were all five star and treated us like royalty. Located right on the Caldera, hikers will love the demanding hike which provides incredible views, a continuous breeze and heart pounding work out. Mystique is also located in the middle of Oia for fun shopping, great Greek food and amazing photo opportunities. The perfect stay for a magical vacation.

I am currently staying here and had to write about it! This hotel provides a truly amazing view but that is all I can say for it! The food is the worst I've ever had, the service is slow even by European standards and the price is outrageous. This island is amazing, you have to come see it but avoid this hotel at all cost. Their "villas" are just one room with a couch made of concrete and driftwood. Finally their "spa" is thirty mins away and has none of the things normal spa accommodations that are found in most normal hotels in this price range.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent visit to our hotel. Rest assured that we carefully review all our guests' comments and also undertake appropriate action in a timely manner to improve our services and product.

With regards to your specific comments please note that we do offer one of the best cuisines on the island, being commented not only by guests, but from culinary experts as well. We do however apologize that we did not fully live up to your expectations due to the different version of pan cakes we serve on our breakfast, than what you are possibly used to have. Of course our Chef is always willing to create any dish our guests would like, according to their preference and taste.
Please accept our apologies for the delay presenting the restaurant bill, which made you feel that our service is slow.

The description of our suites and villas is clearly stated on our web site, as well as in the confirmation letter being sent during the reservation process. All our rooms and common areas are harmonically built to match the natural setting, with respect to the traditional Santorinian architecture and design. We stayed at Mystique for three nights on our honeymoon after escaping from the Astir Palace outside Athens. What a difference! The van was waiting to pick us up from the ferry dock despite our ferry running over an hour late, the porters scrambled to take our luggage down the steps as we walked into the main office and were warmly greeted by the manager proffering champagne....absolute A+ on the service for our entire stay, could not find fault with anything (and just to note - we were staying in one of the less expensive rooms, so it's not as if this level of service is purely reserved for those booking the 2,000+ EUR/night suites). The staff definitely went out of their way on every occasion to ensure that our stay was wonderful.

The pool area and restaurant were always impeccably clean, well maintained, with prompt service. The food at the restaurant was quite good and high priced, but not exhorbitantly so - we ate there several times. We also did the wine tasting which was fun. Plus, there's a host of good restaurants in Oia which is just a couple blocks away.

Is the pool small? Yes. All pools overlooking the caldera are. But with 18 rooms, the pool was never overcrowded. If you want a big pool, don't stay on Santorini

Are there alot of steps? Yes. But every place overlooking the caldera has alot of steps. If you don't want alot of steps, don't stay on Santorini.

The other thing to note about Mystique is that unlike the dozens of other high end hotels dotting the Caldera from Fira to Oia...the balconies actually give you some privacy, instead of being right next to a public walking path or on top of your neighbor, which is really nice.

Would definitely recommend this place to others - it is alot of money, but we left happy that we spent it.

Have just got back from the most wonderful week in Santorini. This was our second week in Greece, Crete being the first. We were picked up from the Ferry Port and taken to Mystique. Down 30 steps to be greeted by reception with a glass of champagne, taken on tour of hotel and then shown to our lovely room (14). This was a vibrant suite (standard room). It had a very comfy bed, well stocked mini bar and good bath products for the fab bathroom.

The breakfasts were mostly very good, although eggs could be fantastic one day and not good the next. My husband had poached eggs one day, perfect, next day so vinegary he struggled to eat them.
We ate lunch here quite a few days and they were lovely. The waiting staff go out of there way to make sure you have everything you need and really look after you. Thank you Dora, Marta and Dana.

Oia is fantastic with lots of restaurants to choose from. We liked walking the 250 steps down to Ammoudi and eating at Dimitris or Sunset, both were very good and the sunset from there is amazing. In the day you can walk along the path to a 'beach' where people were jumping off the rocks, very entertaining. Also at the top of the steps there is a restaurant called Kastro which serves good food and has a really good view of the sunsetting, very romantic.

Our only small gripe would be the music being played at breakfast and round the pool all day. The hotel is so calm it doesn't need awful background music. People have ipods these days if they want music. We were not the only people to feel this way, one lady tried to muffle the noise with towel over the speaker!

All in all a fantastic hotel with great staff, we would love to go back again. Perhaps next year.
Thanks to everyone
