a place so unique; living in a cave with every luxury. Great food, staff, views, the lot. And it has to be good because Santorini isn't that special. As always the Greek islands have been ruined with the huge crowds of cruise liner passengers. But hidden away Mystique is just the answer.

Room Tip: Get a room close to the bar pool dining area and avoid too many steps!

My daughter recently graduated from high school and her graduation present was a trip to anywhere and she chose Greece. Having never been to Greece before I had a travel agent guide us on which islands to visit and where to stay. She highly recommended Mystique and we were not disappointed! It is an incredible place. From the moment we checked in we were mesmerized by the expansive views of the white washed buildings and deep blue water. The staff is very attentive and friendly and we felt very welcomed not just at reception but in the restaurant by the pool, the breakfast place, the gift shop...the service is impeccable and very attentive. We had some sort of welcome gift everyday we were there--usually fresh fruit (and I mean FRESH) and a drink unique to Santorini. It was lovely to come back after a day of sightseeing and have light refreshments waiting in the room--very thoughtful! The food in the restaurant by the pool was incredible as was the service...we ate dinner there on our last night and it did not disappoint. My daughter was chilly (Santorini is windy and can be quite chilly at night even when the temps during the day can soar to 90 or more) and they brought her a blanket to wrap up in. At breakfast our server always recommended something different and unique to Greece...loved trying new things. These little things add up to make a stay quite memorable. However, all that said there are a couple of caveats...the first are the many, many stairs. My daughter is 18 and though I am 45 I am an avid cyclist and am in very good shape...the stairs were challenging...and came as a total surprise as they were not mentioned at all on the website. I kept thinking about how someone in less than decent shape or older or handicapped would be able to navigate the hotel...it is something that needs mentioning as it would be a problem to arrive and realize that there is no way around the stairs. The second thing that was a bit of an issue was our room...in the main it was lovely with a nice, comfy bed and large living area but the bathroom was quite tiny and the doorway leading into the bathroom was just low enough that we had to duck to go into the bathroom...the first day we were there I smacked my head so hard I saw stars. Luckily it took just the one time for us both to remember to REALLY duck when entering the bathroom. The other issue we had with our room was that the power would go randomly go out...this happened a few times during our stay. Once was in the middle of the night and some sort of emergency light came on that was very bright and could not be turned off. I tried to call someone about the power but of course at 3 am no one was manning the phone. It eventually came back on but we never got an answer as to why the power would go off in just our room. Lastly, we did want to eat in the sushi restaurant one night but were not sure where it was. It is new and I think they need to "advertise" its location a bit more. All in all Mystique is a wonderful little hotel that I would recommend...it is just as appropriate for honeymooners as it is for families with older children. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: All rooms will require some hiking. The rooms with outdoor jacuzzi tubs are nice.

As good as advertised. Every aspect of this from the service to the views to the sunsets, this hotel was well worth it. We were lucky enough to get upgraded to the wet allure suite #35 and also got free breakfast. The suite was perfect as it had some privacy and a outdoor Jacuzzi. Also check out the village located 5 minutes from the hotel, some amazing views, food and shopping there.

Almost everything about this place is incredible. We came here as the last stop on our two week honeymoon. It seemed to attract a great deal of fellow honeymooners and similar types of couples. We actually met some very nice other people here and made friends with a couple from NYC where we live. The food at the restaurant is great. We typically ate breakfast and lunch here and everything we got, we liked. The service from all the pool/restaurant staff was extremely attentive and made our four days there great. I particularly want to mention George who seems to be there 24/7 and was so nice, funny and always ready to help. Giannis (sp?) was also another person who made our time there special. Every night they brought some type of snack plus a bottle of alcohol (wine, champagne, etc.) which was unexpected and appreciated. Late afternoon they brought samples of sushi for you to try to entice you to check out their sushi restaurant and it was always tasty. In the morning and afternoon they came around with complimentary drinks to try.

One thing to know is that every room is unique, the pictures of the website may give you the wrong impression. We had room 1 and while the view was nice, it was set-up very oddly, with the bedroom and partial terrace (chairs outside) on the one floor with stairs leading up to a 2nd floor that had the living room and a door to a 2nd terrace (with two lounge chairs). We never spent any time in the "living room" upstairs. Additionally our bathroom was a bit small. We didn't spend a lot of time in our room so it didn't impact our overall opinion too much but I would have preferred something more like suite 12 that had a large living room/bedroom combo and massive bathroom. That room didn't have the terrace views of our room but was close to the pool and restaurant. Also the rooms with the outdoor jacuzzi (wet allure vs. allure suite) seemed nice. The jacuzzi in the bathroom was basically a big bathtub with a few jets.

Lastly, if you make a reservation at the spa, confirm it in writing. We had ours double booked and it became a point of contention as the man who worked there seemed to think my wife had forgotten the day she had scheduled for both of us and wasn't interested in apologizing. The concierge did her best to try and find an alternative for us at another hotel which was very much appreciated and an example of the overall level of service you can expect here.

I would 100% recommend this hotel because of the amazing views, great service and gourmet food. Note: The stairs down to the hotel (and leaving for dinner) are rough. If you're older you will have trouble.

Room Tip: I would not stay in allure suite 1, there are better options.

As a couple on our honeymoon, Mystique was the perfect location for us to unwind after the stress of a wedding and a long flight from Australia. We absolutely loved everything about our stay- the room, the food, the staff and the facilities. The room was unique and romantic, and the view incredible. The staff at the front desk were always willing to help and reliable, and the restaurant staff were attentive and catered to my gluten and diary free diet at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious. The restaurants are highly recommended. The pools were never crowded and the sun-baking area was always quiet. The location of the hotel must also be mentioned. It is not in Oia town but just outside the hustle and bustle. This is perfect because it is quiet and secluded, but it is also only a short walk to the sun-set town's restaurants and shops. We honestly, did not want to leave Mystique exquisite view and relaxing atmosphere! We cannot recommend this hotel enough!

We stayed at Mystique in July 2014 for three nights. I am an SPG Platinum member and can honestly say I was very concerned about the high nightly point requirement to stay at this property - one night here was the equivalent of a week's stay elsewhere. We debated back and forth and decided to go for it - and we were not disappointed. The view is truly SPECTACULAR - all the rooms are beautifully appointed, the service was superb and the restaurant food is gourmet. We were upgraded to a wonderful room and one employee at the hotel, Kostas, really went out of his way to ensure we had a great stay. He took us on a hotel tour, upgraded our room, and even surprised us on our last night with a giant cake to celebrate our new engagement. Also, the hotel is located in the town of Oia which is the place to stay - best sunsets and a multitude of restaurants and shops. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Oia's city center.

I only have two points of potential improvement for the hotel:

1. Mystique needs to communicate on their website or with booking agents that the stairs are very intense and labor intensive. We are 27 and 29 years old and dreaded the stairs daily - we felt exhausted afterwards and we consider ourselves to be in decent shape. The stairs are narrow and steep and are required for all rooms and to get to the lobby, pool and restaurants. My concern is that this information was not advertised. I can 100% say if my parents had arrived not knowing this they would not have been able to stay there. This needs to be made aware early on to guests to ensure they can physically stay at the property.

2. The pool by the restaurant has small rocks or pebbles under the white paint and it is very painful to walk into the pool or to sit on the pool edge. They need to sand the pebbles down and repaint. I spoke about this with several guests while there who also agreed.

All in all - this is a fantastic, unique property with wonderful service. If you go to Santorini you must stay 1. on the caldera and 2. in Oia - and with that combination Mystique is the obvious answer! Enjoy!

Great hotel so long as stairs don't trouble you. Great rooms, lovely terraces, amazing views, divinely comfortable beds and generous pillows, fabulous breakfasts. Walking from there down to the sea is possible. There are lots of nearly restaurants and the walk across the cliffs to the main town ins fabulous.

Room Tip: I'm sure they are all good
