My stay at Zoe-Aegeas Traditional Houses was during the early March winter season. Though most of the shops were closed, there were very little crowds and it was actually the perfect time to indulge in the quaint wonderful moments of this island.

The main reason I had chosen Zoe Houses (Let's call this in short) is its location. I had booked the Honeymoon Studio, which is the only room located on the 2nd level of this 3-bedroom house, that offers a spectacular view of the Oia Village landscape. With the bed facing the doorway, the vast blue Aegean Sea is presented right in front of you, whenever you wake up from the comfort of your bed every morning.

Great attention to detail had also been paid to the ambience of the room, in particular the lightings. Spotlight fixtures were nicely positioned to highlight the individual aspects of the room and with a tap on the switch of the table lamp... Voilà! You get a warm and cosy atmosphere. The room itself is well maintained, along with the cave house bathroom, which is airy and well ventilated. It was also a surprise to find a wash basin made of volcanic rock!

Having spent considerable time wandering and exploring almost every niche and corner of the village of Oia, I had come to the conclusion that Zoe Houses offers possibly the most picturesque view of Oia in Santorini. If you are an avid photographer, you need not spent time searching for a place to snap the perfect shot of those Oia moments, because just right at the doorstep of the room, you already can capture countless pictures of the famous white washed villages along with the blue domed churches lining beautifully along the island landscape.

Just a short 2-min walk away is the Byzantine Castle Ruins, where come sun down every day, travellers from around the island will make their way to this very spot to enjoy the romantic sunset view of Oia. It was such a unforgettable sight to behold that it had become my ritual to visit this Byzantine Castle Ruins every sunrise and sunset during my stay there. In fact, I dare say that those travellers who made their way by bus or car (About 20 mins ride) from Fira must be envious of me staying in a place so close to these mesmerising views. Right at the intersection of the path to the Byzantine Castle Ruins, you can also do a 15-min hike down to Amoudi Bay, where some of the best fish tarvens are located there.

Getting to Zoe Houses in Oia by taxi from the airport will cost EUR 25. However, if you want to save on your budget, I would recommend that you take a 15-min bus ride (Costs EUR 1.60) from the airport to Fira (Main bus station to get to other parts of the island, including Oia), and then hop on to another bus for another 20-min ride (Costs EUR 1.60) to Oia. Alternatively, you can get a taxi at Fira for the cost of EUR 5 per person, whom the driver will try to rope in another 3 passengers to fill the vehicle. The taxi driver will also assist with a call to Zoe Houses to inform of your arrival and a staff member will be there waiting to help with your luggage and walk your way to Zoe Houses. If you prefer the option of taking the bus, I would suggest that you email Zoe Houses to notify your arrival time, so that a staff member can be there waiting in the house. You may also give them a call with your mobile upon reaching there. Also, getting to Zoe Houses from the Oia Bus Station can be a little challenging, if this is your first visit to Oia. If you plan to do this, I had included an image guide for walking directions to Zoe Houses (Look for my photos numbered in sequence).

As you already knew, Zoe Houses is not a hotel that offer full board services, but Zak the proprietor had shown great hospitality during my stay there. In fact, he is more like a friend, a 'DIY Guy' who attended to all my personal needs, from making breakfast arrangements to hitching a ride to Fira.

If you have a budget, but at the same time want to enjoy the best views that Santorini has to offer, look no further - Zak is your man and Zoe Houses is the place!

Stayed here for 5 nights and couldn't speak more highly of Zac. Whether he was there to pick you up, recommend trips, restaurants or have a conversation he has to be one of the best managers I met on my trip to Santorini, nothing was too much trouble. Location wise was perfect and we had a fabulous balcony looking over the volcano and sea, restaurants and bars a stones throw away. The house we were staying in was very large to give plenty of room to spread out. If you fancy a dip or a place to sunbathe there is a swimming pool less than 10 mins away and the houses are a few minutes away from views of the sunset. There are a lot of places that may offer the sunset views, private pools and sunloungers but they come at a very high price, Zoe's was fantastic value for our trip to Oia, you will struggle to find any better for the price.

We (Greek/Scottish Couple) stayed in Zoe House in Imerovigli. Imerovigli is a lovely quiet residential area to stay in Santorini with supermarket, bakery, restaurants etc minutes away. The house we stayed is was perfect - built into the rock in a traditional Santorini style painted with the lovely white and blue colours, it is also very bright and spacious inside. Outside there is a large private balcony/terrace with sun beds to peacefully enjoy the magnificent views of the volcano and see the boats/cruise ships that are visiting the Island, beautiful sunsets and at night, star gazing at the millions of stars. The views from the house are truly unique so much so you don't want to leave! There is also a small swimming pool at this accommodation to relax by and cool you down. The centre of Thira which is lively is within walking distance with its many bars, restaurants and shops. Zak and Aris were both great and took excellent care of us from the minute we arrived. They know the Island inside out and can make great recommendations of what to see and do whilst there, the best places to eat etc. They can organise almost everything for you from pick up from the airport, car hire to excursions. Although you can get by without one, hiring a car lets you explore this unique Island and everything it has to offer so I would recommend doing this. Would definitely recommend staying at Zoe Houses when in Santorini.

Zoes house where we stayed was lovely. Both my husband and I needed something very special and this was it. Stunning views and total privacy on the top balcony

Zac was great and nothing was too much trouble for him. Oia was an amazing place to stay and found resaturants and shopping enjoyable not too expensive and plenty of choice.
