it certainly was the perfect spot for us as we arrived just after the sun set. I just can't remember what we ate. It is an excellent choice if you want a place to eat right by the sea since it is literally at the edge of the water and also very quiet too if you want to get away from the touristy crowd in Oia.

We had a really nice meal here, with some of the freshest fish I think I have ever had. All of it was great quality from the bream to the octopus. Our table was right next to the water's edge, and the view was just perfect. Waiters friendly, and despite others complaints of it being pricey, I didn't really think it was over-priced. Delicious wine too. Only downside was that at the end of the meal, we were expecting to see a dessert card, but instead we were brought a plate of (admittedly delicious) tiny donuts covered in honey and nuts and presented with the bill. Perhaps they were expecting a rush of people and needed the table back (most tables were free around us!), but it was a little odd! Anyway, I am stubborn when it comes to such things so asked for a table up on the beautiful terrace to have coffee instead and enjoy the rest of the sunset, which they obliged with. Perhaps there was a miscommunication however, and the food was good enough that I would give them the benefit of the doubt and go back...

After a long walk down about 300 stairs to the Ammoudi port we walked from restaurant to restaurant to see what the menu and atmosphere at each was like.

We came upon this gem with its friendly staff, comprehensive menu, crisp white table cloths and excellent location right on the water's edge.

As far as other meals in Santorini go, this was certainly not the cheapest, but the price was fair considering that we had two soft drinks, a bottle of water, a glass of wine, two starters, two main courses and bread and all that came to some 72 Euro. The reason I mention the bread and water is that both are just brought to the table without you asking for them and then promptly billed to you at the price of 4 and 2 Euro respectively. I mention this however only to make people aware of it as both these items certainly add to the overall experience.

The staff were incredibly attentive and the service was certainly the best we have had on the island to date. An indication of the attitude of the staff is that they even threw in desert on the house when we said we were too full to order one. This hospitality was a breath of fresh air from one or two of the other places we have been to.

Not that we had the whole fish, but please be aware that if you order whole fish the price on the menu is per kilo and not per fish. One or two other diners missed this fact (although it is clearly set out on the menu) and then got a surprise when their bill arrived.

After the amazing food and atmosphere here, you will certainly be refreshed and ready for the very long walk back up the 300 steps to Oia.

We went two times to the Ammoudi Fish Tavern.
This is one of the best place to eat a Fresh grilled Fish in Santorini.
The restaurant is situated in Ammoudi Bay which is a gorgeous place.
Old port down the village of Oia.
The place is nice and more quiet than the village.
The food was really good, the fish perfectly grilled but the price is a bit expensive.
Great Staff, efficient and friendly.
