Superb location with breath taking landscape, Adonis the owner runs this place with absolute professionalism offering excellent accommodation and without doubt the best place to relax in Oia. Having to been to Santorini over the past ten years Pelagos is a real find offering everything you would expect and just a little bit more for a really fantastic price. Forget Cave Houses this is the way to do Oia, without doubt the most beautiful place in Santorini is the Village of Oia. Pelagos gives you the perfect base from which to see this stunning village as well as the rest of the Island.

Pelagos Hotel was our first place of vacation for this summer and it was indeed a nice place for one to start the vacation. We stayed for 5 days in this set of studios outside Oia and from the first day we were already in vacation mode. The hotel is a cosy well taken care of with nice clean rooms and nice outdoor spaces giving you the feeling of freshness in the summer heat. It is definitely worth renting a scooter and going around the island. Oia is really famous for the romantic sunsets during the summer and Fira(the town of the island) is ideal for dining and drinks.
The management is really warm and helpful and does it best to demonstrate the idea of "greek hospitality".
Pelagos was definitely a good choice for our trip. We hope to be able to come back in the future.

Loved it! Have spent time in Oia before and it was a real treat to be closer to the beaches and be in a more tranquil, rural, spacious setting. Adonis is a wonderful host and does everything to make you feel welcome. The rooms have a really traditional feel and are cool (it's hot in Santorini!) and all have private outdoor space.

We hired quad bikes to get around (cheap and great fun. Go to Kosta in Fira for a great deal) and the village of Oia is only 10 mins away along the very picturesque coast road. You do need transport but if you are only staying for a couple of days of chilling, Adonis is very happy to run you into Oia and pick you up. He cooks lovely simple, traditional meals too if you don't feel like battling with the sunset crowds in Oia and there are a number of tavernas along the coast road too if you don't fancy going too far. By the way you can see the famous sunsets too.

If you are looking for a bit of peace and quiet, a more Greek experience all at a reasonable cost then I would recommend Pelagos.

My partner and I were shooting some shots for a movie in Oia's volcanic landscape. We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and do not regret it all. You will probably need a car to move around the island, but if you do not want to explore the island, you can chill there for sure. The beach is really close or you can stay by the pool drinking cocktails. At least this is what I was doing when coming back to the hotel. Antonios, the manager is a friendly guy and proved to be really helpful when asking for info about places that would fit in the script of the movie. The room was clean and it seems that the hotel has been renovated recently.

Pelagos just opened this year. Great service from the manager, Antonios. He really makes you feel at home. Beach is nearby, great pool at the hotel, quiet, away from the crazy crowded places.

You will need a vehicle to move around.

It's the worst experience in my Greece trip. I won't go to this island because of the hotel. Bad enviorment, dirty room, and angry owner.

We were mortified when we read the reviews! We had booked 5 nights in Santorini at the Pelagos Traditional Studios 8months in advance back in December because of the inexpensive room rates and the reviews seemed okay. So imagine our horror on the reading about unsanitary conditions and unhappy guests. But do not despair, read on...

We pitched with relatively low expectations, and as we had only paid for one night (as a deposit) we were quite prepared to start looking for another hotel after our first night. But you know what? Pelagos provided a nice basic place to explore the island

The acommodation is best described as basic - but certainly satisfactory and definitely not unclean. The cleaning was done thouroughly and on a daily basis (indeed we tipped the cleaner due to the thorough job she did). The hired help (Leonard) was also very helpful and the pool area immaculate.

The only criticism I would level is perhaps that the studios were a little tired - suffering from a gentle neglect. A creaking cupboard door (like the gates of Hades opening), mis-matched glasses and the odd bit of gaffer tape holding things together, and that the facilities for self catering were not brilliant (ie no cooking facilities - but adequate for preparing fruit and salads). Having said this - many of these petty irritations were remedied during our stay - and with just a little effort on the owners part the apartments would be lovely.

Baxedes is a lovely peaceful place (I would say village - but is more a lose collection of studios and tavernas) consequently a hire car is a MUST!

The studios are set in a tranquil, pleasant location - with beautiful dark skies, and a sun terrace to watch the famed Thiran sunset. The nearby beaches of Baxedes and Paradisos are black sand/shingle beaches but gloriously long and quite. I would recommend a sunset walk followed by dinner at one of the road side traditional Greek Tavernas like Paradisos Taverna(where the food is inexpensive and you don't order from the menu - you go to the kitchen and point to it).

So would I recommend Pelagos traditional studios? Well it depends what you want. There are certainly places to stay in Santorini that afford more stunning views - with a concommitently large price tag. However if you are looking for something inexpensive but basic, clean and peaceful Pelagos Tradiitonal Studios would certainly do the trick.

  • Liked — Nice Pool, dark skies.
  • Disliked — Sad air of neglect permeating the property
