“Great character with one hell of a climb!”

Awesome little suites which resemble small caves built into the rock. Clean, modern and well done up. Nice little kitchenette to make coffee/drinks but bring your own supplies cos nothing is included. Absolutely stunning views of the bay from the big balconies. The only catch is having to hike up and down the practically vertical staircase to get there. Coming out at the top and being at the exact spot everyone congregates to watch the sunset makes the pain worth it! No pool but a pool bar nearby (5 min walk).

Stayed in the VIP studios after going to the local tourist office in oia near the bus station and asking for accomodation. I was not expecting such an amazing place for the money we paid. The 2 things that really stand out were the amazing views (like the alps on water) and the fact we were staying in a cave in the side of a cliff!! Everything was clean and the maids serviced the room every day. The bed was comfy and because we were in a cave it was really dark so I slept well.

If you want to self cater (which isn't a bad thing given the price of restaurants is oia) this is a good stay, as although the cooking facilities were a little basic you get your own patio / balcony to enjoy dinner.

I would defiantly stay here again if I wanted to treat the mrs to a romantic get away.

This is one of the most spectacular hotels I've ever staid in - mainly for the view out of the balcony over looking the Caledera. The room is very primitive, but who goes to Santorini to just stay in their hotel room. Oia is of course the best spot in Santorini with plenty to explore. There is a lot of walking involved and baby strollers are pointless on the whole island in fact. They are more work. I suggest traveling light when in Santorini. This is one of the best hotels to watch the sunset away from the crowd.

We booked Vip suites in Oia as we wanted somwhere with kaldera view without breaking the bank...we paid 79 euro p/n at the end of june and enjoyed the very same view you get from hotels that cost 3-500 euro per night.

It may seem confusing at first as their suites are located all over the small town of oia so when you show up at their agency you have to wait for a guide /porter as there is no way you would find your room by yourself...however despite the busy atmosphere the guide will show up and carry your luggage to your room, and he will be back to pick it up for you on your departure day.

The suite we had was a lovely cave house, and it provided a/c but there was no need to use it at all! Having breakfast on our balcony was magical and we were 2 minutes from the main main strip of retaurants and shops in Oia. Also we were very grateful for the ladies at the agency as they were our point of reference for where to go and an where to eat and they are very nice and knowledgeable!

The only slight reservation we had , which is not VIP suites specific but applies to most of Oia and Thira is the steps and routes to the rooms, wear good shoes and dont drink too much or you may have a nasty slip! but as the lady at the agnecy told us accidents/falls are rare as in santorini "the Gods look after the inebriated" . Defintely reccomended as a good value option in Santorini!

Room Tip: cave rooms are cool, so one can enjoy a good sleep without the need for air conditioning! Wear good...

We just returned from a 10-day trip to Greece, during which time we stayed two nights at VIP Suites (June 25-27, 2012). There was a little confusion upon arrival because we couldn't find our room and some people in town hadn't heard of it. We later realized it's because it's not a typical hotel, but rather private rooms spread all around town. Once we figured out to go to the Tourist Info by the bus terminal, we were quickly on our way. A guide was sent to carry our bags (THANK GOODNESS! HA HA!) and as he led us through the maze of steps and tiny alleys, we couldn't believe it. When we got to our room (Suite #7) we ABOUT DIED. Every postcard you'll see from Santorini features the one ICONIC scene, with the three blue church rooftops... well, guess what, you are **IN** the postcard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! The room is TINY but very clean. Plenty of dishes and glasses and a refrigerator. A/C. Soft towels. AWESOME bathroom (albeit horrible water pressure... good luck rinsing out your conditioner! HA!) with a caldera view FROM the shower window!!! My only bad comment about this room would have to be the bed. It is TINY and you feel like you're sleeping on the springs. Just AWFUL. :( However, I also realize that it would be impossible to haul a Hampton Inn mattress up the hill, so I suppose it makes sense, but I didn't sleep great since it was the WORST BED I have ever had to sleep upon. HOWEEEEEEEEVER... because I didn't sleep, I got up early to wander around and watch the sunrise and it was one of the most magical mornings in Greece. I was the only one awake and it was silent except for a few meowing cats and the sound of rigging softly clanking on the sailboats below. VERY VERY COOL. :)
No wifi in the rooms, but the local restaurants all have it, so no biggie.
I would MOST DEFINITELY recommend this place to anyone... with these "warnings" -
FIRST, CALL AHEAD to find out HOW to find your room. No biggie if you know what to do.
SECOND, MIND YOUR HEAD as you enter the room/bathroom because if you're taller than 5'8" you can (and will!) smack your head on the HARD concrete walls (my husband learned this the hard way!).
FINALLY... if possible, ask to know ahead of time WHICH UNIT you will get so you can request a photo of the VIEW from that particular room because some units have FANTASTIC views while others have QUITE DISMAL views... it will make or break your whole experience depending on which room you get.
Hope this review helps. Also, be forewarned that WAVES and WAVES of HUGE groups come through town when the cruise ships come to port... but relax knowing that you will get the whole town to yourselves in the evenings and mornings when the throngs of tour groups leave. Amazing food and shopping. Don't miss a chance to get OUT of Oia and go to the beaches on the southeast side (near Pollonia). GREAT palapas for rent (with iced buckets of beer) and soft sand and amazing crystal clear water. Well worth the trip over...

Room Tip: DEFINITELY find out ahead of time WHICH unit you get because they are all spread out and some have I...

My husband and I booked a Superior Cave room with VIP Suites for 3 nights in May 2012 and were given a small cave room. the room was situated on the caldera and the small balcony outside the room had stunning views. the room although bit small was just right with traditional white washed walls and cave like structure. even the washroom was cave-like. However there was a slight malfunction in the washroom and we had to move out of the cave room to the nearby Best Western hotel, also maintained by the same company, Ecorama Holidays. The propoerty is well located in the heart of Oia and the travel agency maintaining the property is also easily accessible by buses as it is located on the bus station itself. the agency guy helps with luggage down and up the stairs to the room. very nice.

We stayed in Suite 7 @ VIP Suite. The view from our balcony was brilliant.
The room was adorable and clean. The bathroom was nice, big and clean yet the toilet had flushing issues.
Some negatives were the bed was very uncomfortable and the air-conditioning was constantly playing up (turning off and on) which kicked the safety switch off killing the power.
But all in all was very happy and if those little thing get fixed it would have been perfect.
We would definitely stay here again!
