“One of the most magical places I've ever been”
Reviewed June 5, 2012

Atlantis Books is a bookstore like no other. After wandering the dreamy streets of Santorini, my fiance and I happened down the steps to a cozy, warm room, filled with books of all kinds. The selection is great (lots of languages, too) and the people were so friendly. Apparently a group of friends traveling around Europe decided to open this shop, so they bought books, drove a van from Germany, and started the shop on a shoestring budget. The shop exudes warmth and friendship, and is a place you'd want to sit and stay awhile. Definitely a must see.

“Little gem in Oia”
Reviewed June 4, 2012 via mobile

When I saw the sign 'Rent a cat for 5 euros' I figured this was one store worth investigating. It's the quirkiest little book store I have been in for some time for sure, but well stocked with books in multiple languages and some interesting touches - the collections of books banded together by theme e.g. Irish authors (so pleased to see that!), the literary quotations written onto the walls, and the intelligent and witty section signage. There also appears to be a bed in the back though whether that's for customers to lounge on or for the owner to take a nap, I wasn't sure! Very pleasant and helpful shop owner. I picked up a great local book about Oia which filled in a lot of the history of the village that you don't get from tour guides. As bookstores go, it was pricey and mind yourself going down the steps - they are quite sharp and steep. There is a literary festival here in November which looks very interesting.

“Discover your own Atlantis”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

This bookstore was clearly created by readers -- people who know good books that stand the test of time. The best part, though, is that discovering the bookstore can feel like you've uncovered Atlantis itself. Walk down a flight of stairs, turn into an old cave house, and meander through rooms teeming with books. The store has all the major European languages covered but English is certainly their strong suit, from Proust to the latest summer read fad. They have every book you've been meaning to read. Don't go to Oia without stopping in this store. It will be the coolest bookstore you've ever been to. Seriously.

“Literary and Social Haven”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

Atlantis Books is a charming bookshop staffed by artists, writers, students, world-travelers, bakers, and readers. I think it is the only one of its kind on Santorini. The selection of English-language books is great, and staff are eager to provide a recommendation and point you in the direction of the best 2-euro souvlaki on the island. When I visited in 2008, chess games, film showings, and cake tastings made this place more of a destination than your average bookstore. I've sent half a dozen friends to this spot since then and they report it's still the same enchanting place.

“Looking for a good book? What a find!”
Reviewed November 3, 2011

Traveling light, I don't like to carry more than one book at a time. So, I often find myself searching for English language books. What a joy to discover in Oia, down the steps, a treasure trove of fine literature. I spent a delightful hour looking for just the right book for my relaxing Santorini stay. Most of the books are second hand. The mood in the bookshop is terrific, and, I believe, there are selections in many different languages.
