So watching the sunset in Oia is a big deal and do not miss it, its beautiful! After looking for somewhere to watch it, we read about Kastro's and emailed about 3 weeks prior to our arrival for reservations. They wrote back very fast (which was a miracle as we had been experiencing places not responding back…) and we arrived to Kastro's our first night in Oia and the restaurant was perfect!
It is exactly what you would imagine a cliff side restaurant in Santorini being! They had the best table for us, both of us on the edge facing the sunset! Greek service is very slow (which we found out that night) but it was perfect because sunset set takes about 2-3 hours and we did not feel they were trying to rush us out to flip the table but letting us relax and enjoy the sunset and our dinner! Because the Cruise ship's send their passengers up to Oia for the sunset, it gets VERY crowded so having a reservation is a MUST and the men of Kastro's (which btw when we were there were all young, gorgeous and could be models… come on women why not go to Kastro's :) would constantly tell the cruse shippers to move, and they couldn't be in front of the restaurant which I appreciated so much because you can just sit at your table and take amazing pictures without moving and having unobstructed views. They would have to go every 5 mins and tell the people to move which was so impressive to me!
The food was good, very casual Taverna cuisine. We had been in Greece for about a week at this point and was kind of getting tired of drinking just wine and Kastro's has mixed drinks (which is hard to come by let me tell ya) and they make Mojitos which just hit the spot!!! When going to Oia, Kastro's is a must!!!!!
