Snobbish, pretentious, extremely over-priced
Appetizers were smaller-than-bite-size. The octopus was over-seasoned. Main entry was bite-size. The sauces were applied as artistic pretty brush strokes or drops. But there were too little to mix in the main ingredient. They change all the plates and silverware for you after each dish, which is no more than a bit and took just a second to eat. So it was constant hectic change of plates and silverware and you couldn’t have a conversation. After 3 courses we were still hungry, so we went to another restaurant to start over our dinner.
All other restaurants, pricy or moderate and cafes we eat in Oia and other Greek islands have outstanding foods, especially octopus. 1800 has dishes that are very pretty to look at, but do not taste any better than a café. You are paying at lease 10 times more here. Besides several seat on the second floor near the street, your view is only the sky, not even a corner of the sea. In many other Oia restaurants you’d have an unforgettable sea view.
