“Do not leave Santorini without coming here!!”
Review of Amoudi Bay

Definitely walk down the cliff side from the town of Oia to Ammoudi Bay Harbor. This harbor has great sea side tavernas and also one of the best places in swim in Santorini. To get to the swimming area, keep walking left along the cliff side. Eventually you'll see a group of people sitting on the rocks and swimming around this huge boulder in the water. THe water is gorgeous and warm!! Beware of sea urchins and sharp rocks, waterproof shoes might help but you can definitely go barefoot. Also, do not come here if you just want to lay out in the sun and tan, this is not the place to do it. Unless you want to lay on rocks/boulders, this place is not meant for tanning. In the water, there is a huge boulder that people swim to and climb up on. On this boulder there are stairs that lead to a little church (you can't see it from shore but it's there) and a ledge that juts out that people can jump from. This is great for exploring and I could have easily spent hours jumping off the cliff (which everyone should definitely do!! it looks scary but it's so much fun), taking in the view, and just floating around. I love swimming and always try and seek out the best places to swim everywhere, and this is for sure the best swimming area I have ever been to, do not miss it!!

We wanted a morning at a beach, started in Kamari, went to Karterados, Kouloumbo and Paradise beaches. It was a windy day and big waves everywhere. Very soon we discovered we already reached Oia and still didn't have a bath yet. Without knowing what to expect, we parked the ATV close to the little port below Oia. After passing the line of restaurants and went on the narrow path, we saw the Amoudy "beach". I was rather disappointed at first site :) No sand anywhere, no even the black pebbles i got used with in Santorini. Just a square concrete platform, with some steps to get into the water.
At a second look, I totally forgot about the concrete. The water is incredible blue, with huge white stones under the water. They reflect the light and colors are amazing. Perfect place for snorkeling. The view above, to Oia's white buildings it's like in a fairytale. I had the most perfect lunch there, at Dimitris Ammoudi Taverna, fresh mussels cooked with tomatoes, garlic and wine.

As one review put it "Do not leave Santorini without going to Amoudi Bay", especially as the sun sets where you can enjoy the wonderful colors on the cliffs.

Agree with the prior review. This was my one of my favorite spots on Santorini. There was a little shop, just left of the area where the stairs to the bay end as you walk down from Oia - where a store owner (at least when we were there) played continuous Frank Sinatra, which carried along the bay. Further to the south, right before the area where the path to Amoudi Beach begins, there was a quaint restaurant with great food.

This is a place where boats in primary colors (yellow, blue, red) clash against perfect turquoise water and bob hypnotically around anchor lines. Where waves crash against harsh black rock. And you can sit at your liesure and eat and drink and take it all in. I found Amoudi a meditative place, the kind of place you could sit for hours and write in a journal or just rest.

Wow! This is the most picturesque place on the island. Surprised there aren't any reviews. We stumbled across this area while driving from one end of the island to another. Travel through Oia and at the base of the caldera you will find this little gem.

We had a some wine and baklava and watched the sunset at one of the restaurants, just steps from the water. Also saw some of the fresh fish being delivered. It was simply amazing.

It's a must do!
