Stayed here on the return leg of a road trip around Normandy and Brittany. This hotel has the WOW factor! It's not cheap, but for a treat after a long drive, it was well worth the money. As soon as you get there you can tell its one notch above the rest. Excellent service, fantastic location, the views from the cliff top across the beach and over towards the arches are breathtaking. We opted for the 'Excellence Double with Sea View room' - it had it's own balcony, from which, the view was just outstanding. Room itself was sumptuous and for some, maybe even a bit garish, but for me, this added to the charm. It's a rather large hotel with no lifts, so beware! The room we had did seem to be at the extreme end of the hotel and it was quite a hike! Restaurant was top notch, quite expensive, but the food (and the view from the panoramic windows) was splendid. Will save up and stay again for definite.

This hotel was a last minute, spontaneous choice. We had one night left before heading to Paris and wanted some time at the coast.

Our room had some shortcomings, but the overall experience was so nice that they are not a cause for downgrading although they would be in other hotels.

The desk staff was welcoming, and had good English. They were helpful and courteous about answering my many questions about the hotel and area.

We arrived on a Sunday and had no reservations but were given a window seat at the restaurant for lunch. We had eaten a big breakfast and were not very hungry so basically just ordered dessert. We were treated with the same professionalism and service as if we had ordered a full meal. We also ate dinner here. Our "lunch" and dinner were both a bit spendy, but you expect that at this type of place. Service was a bit slow but not terribly so considering how busy they were. Breakfast the next morning was E16.50 each but a lavish spread of fresh cooked eggs, sausage, etc as well as the usual cold cuts and breads.

We liked our rooom. It was large and well equipped except that there was no easy chair. The bed was a double, not the queen or king we prefer. There was a tub/shower combo and lots of towels.

The view from our room, 1, was fantastic.

Because we ate in their restaurant we were given a 10% discount on the room!

Things not to like:

1. Parking. It is free but was very limited.
2. There is no lift in the original house so lots of steps.
3. The room is poorly lighted.
4.The shower diverted was jammed so the shower was always on.
5. The water temperature in the shower fluctuated uncomfortably. I see another guest complained of this also.

Despite the flaws listed above we have talked about how much we liked the hotel and that we want to return to it. My overall memory is so positive that when I read my notes about the hotel, I was surprised by my list of problems.

Yes, we would return but plan on a longer stay next time.

We went to Étretat for a mini vacation from Paris. We arrived Wednesday the 22nd of January and were checking out the following day. The property of the hotel is very nice and well kept. There was construction going on in the restaurant/bar. It's a shame we couldn't enjoy it as the view is truly panoramic and spectacular. (It is reopening on the 23rd.) We walked to the front desk and were warmly greeted by the front desk agent (I'm sorry I didn't get your name) and Black, the hotel cat. Everything was very smooth with the check in. We were escorted to our room and shown the amenities and our amazing sea view.

The room was very nicely appointed. It was spacious and warm. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was also very spacious, full of amenities.

The hotel is just off a pathway on the cliff and within walking distance to the town. Very well located. The view is fantastic. The employees were very nice.

The only downside I found with the hotel is that the pathway leading down to town was not lit at night. While not a big deal to us, since we had our iPhones, perhaps it could be a big problem for others.

Breakfast was okay. The breakfast room shares the amazing view but the food was a lackluster, perhaps because the hotel was a bit empty. But, we got the fuel we needed and what we did have was good.

Check out was very swift. Black was there to say bye as well. Thanks for a great mini getaway!
