“Wonderful apartment in enchanting historical French village!!”

Our hosts, Rae and Neil, provided every comfort to ensure maximum enjoyment of the accommodation and the town. Copious amounts of information suggesting places of interest and of historical significance were available which was very helpful. The clean, airy apartment has been sensitively modernised to afford comfort while retaining it's historical appearance and feel. It is beautifully decorated with an overall elegant and spacious interior. Loved it's location as I could join the locals every morning in an early stroll to the nearest patisserie only metres from the front door, for that obligatory daily baguette! When felt like a swim could walk just a few minutes to several beautiful safe areas of the nearby Dordogne river. Loved the apartment's close proximity to everything the town has to offer such as shops, a weekly market held in the town square, a Renaissance museum, and much more. However being right on the river providing that sense of water nearby was perhaps one of it's biggest draw cards for me!

Liked best: The comfort afforded between bouts of sightseeing, & it's easy access to all the village has to offer, & the river.
Liked least: The unseasonal heat which not even the wonderful hosts could change!

“Beautiful spacious townhouse in Beaulieu – close to all amenities and the river!”

We had a wonderful 2 week stay in Beaulieu sur Dordogne this June/July 2015.
The house is large enough to accommodate up to 6 people comfortably with 3 good-sized bedrooms. Whilst keeping in line with the medieval and original décor, it has all the functionalities of modern day living; a clean and large bathroom and separate toilet, there is everything you need to live comfortably for a short or lengthy stay. The kitchen and dining are spacious and well set out, there are 2 fridges which we found useful for storing our drinks. Rae-Helen and Neil had left wine on our arrival along with a lovely welcome note. ☺
The location of the townhouse is what appealed to us when booking our stay, nestled in a cosy laneway, it’s not even 100 metres away from the picturesque town church, a lovely patisserie, antique store, and a delicious crèperie (we visited too often. ;)) There are 2 wonderful and reasonably priced gift shops which have some locally sourced products and gorgeous jewellery. The main center of town is 2 minutes walk around the corner and has a weekly market in the town square providing fresh and local produce. Beaulieu offers everything from restaurants, cafes, hairdressers to the boucheries and local supermarkets where we sourced all of our essentials. The Dordogne river is a few minutes walk from the house where we spent our time swimming and enjoying picnics and bbq’s with the view of the town of Beaulieu. The locals are friendly, helpful and welcoming and as it is less touristy than Paris, we felt it was a more authentic French experience than some of the other places we have stayed.
The owners, Australian couple Rae-Helen and Neil have great knowledge of the region and have been wonderful hosts. From their quick replies to our enquiries to personal touches they leave with the house, we highly recommend their property for a pleasant stay.
Can’t wait to return to our favourite part of France, and one of the most comfortable and relaxing places on our adventures. ☺
