As a professional business consultant and hotel-tester I had just completed a six month testing series for a German hotel goup and stayed privately at this hotel for five days two years ago with my youngest daughter.

It was so bad - apart from the friendly staff doing there best in a lousy situation - that there was no point in complaining; nothing could have been changed. I therefore took photos of all the defects and in a strong complaint to Best Western offered them these as proof. Apart from an initial reply, Best Western did not want the photos and did nothing. Even a direct complaint to the Director of Customer Care, Rich Johnson, in the USA, despite my complaints, was never answered. Just the usual run-around.
The hotel, reopened shortly before after years of closure, was still run-down, filthy inside and out with filthy outdoor seating and garden with a plastic tent, a dirty swimming pool, lousy food, little service, a terrible noisy room and an elevator that didn't work. Why I didn't walk out, I really don't know ...

I was told by staff that the owner was not present, was not interested in investing any more money in the project he's miscalculated and staff had to get by with what they had. A proper manager was not available and nobody was in charge. But "everybody" did "something" to keep the place running.

As Best Western, which only franchises its name and doesn't run any hotels, do periodic quality checks, it makes one wonder if the hotel tester is taking kickbacks to keep the hotel in the system. If not it's all complete incompetance.

So don't stay there unless you have to ......

Very small rooms, we spent 5 nights with 2 children in a 'family room', I have more space in my own master bedroom @ home than in the 'family room'.
Swimming pool : dirty and old, hotel the same : old. In the flyer : completely restored, still searching what they have restored.
We go on holiday to enjoy the good wetter and climate, but we didn't have the possibility to eat outdoor.
Furniture outdoor : big disaster.
In six words : DO NOT GO TO VIGNES BLANCHES, transit hotel fot one night, not for long stays.

Rooms and service were average. The breakfast was disappointingly sparse. It was very warm in the room but the sulphur smell from the nearby paper mill made it unpleasant to have the window open. Staying here was OK, but with so many more charming options in the area, I will stay elsewhere next time.

The rooms were fine, updated, quaint looking, but REALLY SMALL. It was very hard to manuever around the room. Nice sitting area downstairs to gather though. Free internet on a computer there. Staff was helpful, except for the lady in the kitchen would yell at us in French if we were in the wrong spot. Group was feed very little food and it wasn't very good. A plain hamburger on the plate by itself, and no roll?? Weird.

My experience was not dissimilar from most of the other reports. The rooms are small and in need of renovation and hotel in general could do with sprucing up a bit. Saying that though I found the staff to be helpful and patient, English is not wildly spoken this far south in France and my own French is rusty to say the least. Dinner was okay in the restaurant. A would call this a basic average hotel that is okay for a one or two day stay not more.
One downside - Breakfast was extremely expensive for what was offered.
Comment, not Complaint: Learn some French before you travel.

IF YOU ARE EXPECTING A 3* HOTEL DON"T HOLD YOUR BREATH,the staff were very friendly and helpful but the hotel was very dated, filthy walls in our room, dark and dingey bathroom, old furniture, we had two single beds bolted together as a double & my son had a well worn single, for a family room it was way too small. We did"nt try the restaurant, I would recommend the bakery right next door for a cheaper breakfast and with the quay 20 mins walk away, the views and atmosphere, along with a more local menu ,the cafes are a far better option. The hotel does have a lovely pool which, along with the table tennis is the only form of enterainment- so not really a place to take your kids! We cut our stay short and moved to another PROPER 3* hotel in Avignon which was fantasic.!
