On each occasion that we return to this beautiful country Hotel we are delighted with the overall warmth of the greeting upon arrival. The ambiance of the hotel is wonderful, set in attractive grounds and backed by an active equestrian centre .The hotel has noticeably been upgraded recently with the addition of air conditioning and double glazing. Chef David Martin and his team have continued to provide an excellent changing restaurant menu with a strong emphasis on local good quality seasonal produce. This Hotel can be a wonderful stopping point for anyone travelling through the Auverne or to stay longer and explore the area.

I went there for an equestrian vacation and what I found was above all my expectations.A very charming hotel leaded by the wonderfull owner. A peacefull view, an excellent food with the chef adapting to each one taste and appetite, the attention of all the staff to please us and help us. We almost felt home and did not want to leave. 3 days was too short!
I also found exceptional horses and a wonderfull wonderfull instructor that helped us improving in very few lessons our riding ability as begginers or confirmed riders.

I stayed here for a week as part of an equestrian vacation. It was a fabulous experience! The accommodations, service, food -- not to mention the horses -- were exceptional. My room was quite luxurious, including all the amenities of a 5-star hotel (slippers, bathrobe, shampoo, etc.). The Chateau's excellent chef, David Martin, prepared meals that were both delicious and pleasingly presented. And our host, Mr. Tissier, was a complete delight -- helpful with everything from drawing us a map to get to a nearby site, to helping tack up and untack the horses, to suggesting a good regional wine with dinner. I'm planning to return!

Room Tip: - Rooms on the 1st floor were larger than on the 2nd. - The instruction in riding that is offered...

My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend there in July this year. Everything was beyond our expectations. The staff went out of their way to please us. The place itself is very beautiful and the surroundings are very peaceful and ideal for nature lovers. They have a large staple with amazing horses though we did not go horseback riding as I have a bad back but they offer guided tours. The restaurant was amazing, excellent food and wines served outside on the gorgeous terrace. The owners were lovely and their dogs were always present but very well behaved. I am dreaming of going back as soon as possible!

We have eaten here many times in the past and have stayed in the hotel only once (not to be recommended as the room we were given was awful and they wouldn't change it!).

The food used to be fantastic, you were well fed with excellent tastes to savour but slowly the portion sizes have been shrinking as the cost of the meal rises!

We went recently and, as always, it started with the amuse bouche, very nice flavours.  We had chosen fish for the starter, it was no bigger than my thumb covered in ribbons of carrot and cucumber (as if to hide the fish).  The taste was OK but not stunning.  The main course arrived and the tiny piece of meat had lots of fat and gristle - hidden by a sauce.  I wonder why the French have a problem with vegetables, they over cook them and they end up soggy and tasteless, at Ygrande it is the same.  The dessert was nice (once again a huge plate with small spots of food) but there was no WOW factor in any of it. Yes the chef makes it all look pretty but I want to enjoy the food as its the main reason for going out to eat.

Yes the views are stunning, it's a beautiful setting but we came away very hungry and were charged a lot of money for the pleasure.   It is such a shame that this establishment has taken a nosedive and we will no longer recommend it to our friends.   If you like pretentious fare then you will probably enjoy this.

Room very small and the toilet compartment was so small if you are bigger than usual thenyou cannot place your arms by your sides .The door has been removed to to allow room for the knees

Room Tip: ask for a bigger room ,perhaps in the annexe as most reviewers seem to like them
