“Fun activity, no real skill needed”

We have done this several times from various ports. You go to the little rental hut and chose how far you want to go. They take you by van to the location and you float/paddle back at your own pace. The river is usually very calm. You can stop as much as you want on the way back, just pull the canoe or kayak up the riverbank, grab a beer or a snack, explore a new village or take some photos. They provide a water proof container for your belongings and lifejackets. Reasonable prices, lots of options.

“Fun for young and old (14 - 91!)”
Reviewed July 29, 2014

Prompt start and pickup at appointed destination. NOT a white water experience. Spectacular scenery, leisurely trip down a slow moving river.

“do not go to Dordogne if you NOT going to paddle the river!!!”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

what an absolutely wonderful time on the dordogne. Paddling from Vitrac past 3 bridges to Beynac - along the way seeing La Roque Gageac, Chateau Caselnaud and other great scenery. Just imagining invaders travelling down this river a 1000 years truly awe inspiring. We ambled down the river totally alone. It had been overcast earlier in the day and think many opted not to kayak this day. So up to Castelnaud we saw no other paddlers and was a very amazing experience to have the river to yourselves. We landed at Castelnaud and walked around and purchased sandwiches and wine and ventured back to the water Across from Beynac on a small little "beach" we parked and picnicked with the bastide town of Beynac and the castle in front of us. Can I just say this was something special. The ride is not hard or tedious and even if you are tired just stop along the way wherever you want. get out stretch and take 6 or more hours if you want. there is no timetable on this activity. My wife and I opted for the cheesy photo they take of you along the way and truly am glad we did. We have framed this photo and is on our wall of our travelling adventures.
you will not be disappointed by this trip but you will be if you do not do it!!

oh and the pickup in Beynac very easy and gets you back to Vitrac by a nice scenic ride.

“The best way to enjoy the river!”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

With four days and beautiful weather on the horizon, we decided there was no better way of experiencing the Dordogne than by canoe! This group are professional and efficient in delivering a fine service. We were glad to have left early (9.30) before the heat of the day AND because the river does get busy, sometimes with inexperienced paddlers going in circles ahead of you! A memorable day topped off with a light lunch at the cafe at Vitrac Port. Highly recommended!

“A must in this area”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

What an amazing way to see this wonderful area. Both in our 60's we had no trouble doing our 16.5k on the Dordogne. The staff were very helpful and informative. We left early in the morning and had a couple of stops along the way from Vitrac to Beynac, pulling in at Beynac village and taking an hours walk up to the castle. Picked up at the last point after Beynac we were taken back to our car. What a beautiful peaceful day out. Hint, take plenty of time to soak in the atmosphere and have a picnic along the way.
