My whole family dove in Zanzibar in mid-july and David and his staff were awesome! My teenage son had just become certified in the states and my 10 year old had finished pool and classroom but was too nervous to get certified before we left for vacation. We weren't sure we were going to dive as we had heard that zanzibar was "big-boy diving" for advanced divers only and we didn't want it to be too advanced for our new divers. I had emailed David about our stay but did not commit. We stayed and Mnarani Beach Cottages and when we arrived at our hotel, late in the evening, David was there waiting for us. I have never had that level of service-- we were pleasantly surprised! We decided to go out the next morning... David was so kind and really helped everyone feel comfortable. We started with a discovery dive for my youngest and by the end of the second day he had completed all his skills and was a certified diver. This definitely would not have happened without the patience of David and his staff. He answered all my son's questions and really made him feel comfortable with what they were going to do. David and Cholo were clearly expert divers and knew exactly where to go to have the proper level of diving for the new divers and enough good stuff for the advanced divers to see and enjoy as well. -- The operation was courteous and professional, the boats were comfortable, the packed lunches were great-- I can't say enough good stuff about this operation. We would definitely dive with David and his staff again!

My teenage daughters and I dove on three consecutive days at Ras Nungwi. One daughter (recently certified) was diving in the ocean for the first time, the other did her Advanced certification, and David & Cholo couldn't have been more kind, professional and patient with them. They did everything to make this a positive experience for them (and me). Equipment is well-maintained, boat is comfortable. This dive shop is ideally situated to access the better dive sites of Zanzibar (Mnemba Atoll, as well as dive sites in the north and north-east area of the island). Plus, they are eco-minded and take marine conservation to heart. You'll be in good hands if you go with these guys.

First let me make it clear I'm neither a diver nor a snorkeller and was along for the day's outing on the boat. Initially I had hoped I'd work up my courage to snorkel but in the end, didn't.

However at no time was I made to feel uncomfortable for not participating. Our adult daughters thoroughly enjoyed their snorkel with Sharifu (sp?). Everyone was fitted with their equipment in a well ordered way and assisted to get out to the boat.

There was only one diver on board, as well as the dive professional, and he enjoyed his dive as well. I had a clear sense that this was a well-run, disciplined team who had a professional approach to their responsibilities, thanks to the approach of the team leader and dive expert David.

I just wished I wasn't a wimp and had managed more than a swim in the turquoise waters. The scenery was just gorgeous with the bright white sand of exclusive Mnemba Island offsetting the darkening shades of turquoise.

Thanks to all the team, David, Sharifu and Spider.

When I booked our trip to Ras Nungwi it was largely because of the reputation of Zanzibar Water sports. I contacted the dive centre before booking my holiday to check that I got the sort of responses that I wanted.

So it was a bit of a concern when it turned out that the dive centre has changed when I arrived.
First contact with the dive centre was friendly and relaxed, but when we returned to book some dives and courses things had got more difficult because they were busy.
David really tried his best, and when I was wiling to work with him everything became easy. After our first dive, I guess he worked out that we were serious divers and he couldn't have been more helpful.
All of the guys that we dealt with and dived with were very professional and helpful. One of our party did her first Discover Scuba Diver and really enjoyed it. Us experienced divers had some very relaxed and enjoyable dives, and the non diver with us had some good snorkelling at Mnemba and Kendwa.
David tried his hardest to arrange a jet ski safari for us, with one of the other centres of the old company, which would have been very expensive, but they couldn't field more than one jet ski so we didn't bother in the end. No fault of Davids.
David also persevered with the kite surfing guys, who eventually gave some of our party some lessons. I actually gave up on them before David did.
Our dives local to Nungwi were great- not quite as good as Mnemba, the local Marine reserve, but better than most of the places we have been. Sadly the Maldives skews your judgement on dive sites, but the dives we did with Aquarius were very close. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff made up for any difference in the dive sites.
We rented Kayaks from the centre at low tide when the lagoon was very shallow - I would not have wanted to do it at high tide when it was quite rough.
We went on an excellent Sunset cruise. The tides made it difficult to get into the boat, which I imagine would have upset some people, but as divers/snorkellers we were fine getting wet on the way into the boat.
Wind surfing is no longer available, but actually I agree with David that there was too much danger of people getting injured in the shallow water.
David - concentrate on the excellent diving service that you offer, and you can't go wrong :-)
Also value the guys that you have - they were all really friendly and helpful - making us feel safe and comfortable.
