“Good value for money”
Reviewed April 27, 2012

Geelbek is one of the main facilities in the park and has a range of different services, such as limited menu restaurant, the museum and the original farm buildings. It has decent parking areas and rest-room facilities for hikers, birders and trailists. Its definitely worth a stop for a quick break and a sandwich.

“Wonderfully simple and welcoming”
Reviewed April 8, 2012

This little restaurant is a hidden gem within the West Coast National Park, the welcome is friendly, the food wonderfully simple and tasty and the location peaceful and very, very pretty. Meals and based on West Coast and traditional South African recipes and flavours along side more conventional choices. Lunch under the shade is shared with the resident Cape Weaver birds and Francolins and the stall will look after you with happy and efficient manner, the snoek tart when available is the best!. Walk off lunch wandering to the bird hides then head to Kraalbaai for a late afternoon swim - just perfect!

“A lovely setting for a great restaurant”
Reviewed March 25, 2012

Geelbek Visitor Centre Restaurant in the West Coast National Park is in a Cape Dutch building dated back to 1744. It is in a very pleasant setting with good views over the Lagoon. Bright yellow Cape Weavers were hopping in and out of the restaurant, sharing the food (!)The trees outside had hundreds of Weaver nests in them. The staff were very pleasant and the Lemon Meringue pie was wonderful. A good place to eat at a reasonable price. Very pleasant and helpful staff

“Great Food in pleasant setting”
Reviewed December 2, 2011

Geelbek Restaurant is situated in the West Coast National Park, South Africa.

The Park is a favourite with both locals and holiday makers.

Geelbek serves breakfast, lunch and tea's and is set in an attractive old building with outside tables on the lawns, under tents and on the veranda. It was rather a windy the day we visited so we sat on the veranda.

The food was excellent and I chose a trio of meats - bobotie, lamb dennevleis (superb!!) and Malay Chicken Curry. This was served in individual bowls with yellow rice, pumpkin fritter and veg. It was truly delicious and I would recommend this choice to anybody.

My partner enjoyed the Cape Malay Curry.

We were too full to try desserts but they also looked very edible!!

We have enjoyed breakfast at this menu on another occassion - that time we could sit under one of the "tents" and it was most enjoyable.

Well worth a visit.

“Relaxing, good traditional food.”
Reviewed March 27, 2011

Perfect for a Sunday lunch. Sit under the trees and enjoy some regional wines. Food is good traditional fare. I had the denningsvleis that I can recommend. Service friendly but slightly slow, but this is the west coast where time is not important, and in this setting you really do not mind.
