“Casadani - Home away from home”
Reviewed June 6, 2012

We were at Casadani for 3 nights and also a few hours in the early morning just after landing in Mahe and on our way to Praslin by Cat Cocos ferry.

We had pre booked with them way back in January 2012 and they were gracious to hold and confirm our booking without any credit card details. Praslin was our first stop in Seychelles and we realized that we would need a breather to freshen up. Lise (the owner – Mr. Dani’s daughter) agreed to send us a pickup and allow us the use of a room and breakfast for 3, short visit in Victoria and drop off to the Cat Cocos Jetty (total time about 3 hours) for a price of EUR 50 which was quite reasonable.

I may mention that there is a time-lag in their response to e-mail, but a phone call will ensure prompt attention !

Mr. Jean Paul was already awaiting us at the airport to receive us. After resting, we boarded the Cat Cocos Ferry to Praslin (EUR 40 per pax). Due to the choppy seas the ride was unnerving and far from comfortable and we decided to cancel our return tickets on the ferry (4 days later) and take the 15 minute air trip from Praslin to Mahe on Air Seychelles the cost of which was EUR 99. However, after reaching Praslin I telephoned the Air Seychelles office there and they agreed to sell me the special ticket (>48 hours advance purchase ticket) for only EUR 50. Cat Cocos was also extremely gracious to refund the entire amount (which was paid in cash) since I had informed them immediately after docking in Praslin.Other tourists may benefit from this special offer from Air Seychelles by enquiring about such tickets.

After reaching Mahe, we were allotted room (villa) 31 which was a spacious 2 bedroom kitchen + living room accommodation fully furnished to self- catering needs. The place was immaculately clean and with all cooking facilities (although we did not use them). Casadani is run by a core team of family members. Mr. Dani (the owner) who not only owns the largest number of fishing boats in Seychelles, is an ex- member of parliament in Seychelles and a self-made, down to earth man who washes his own car, notwithstanding the fact that he leases out at least 40 "near brand new vehicles" for hire.

Casadani is not ON the beach but just about 5 minute walk from a small nearby extension of Beau Vallon beach, but you will certainly need a vehicle to do sightseeing. After seeing the activity on Sunday evening at Beau Vallon, we were really happy to be at Casadani – in a quiet niche !

The breakfast here is basic but the dinner has a varied spread with the special grill section where one can order grilled fish of different types. Lunch is also served on request.

We requested for a snorkeling trip in the morning and a fishing trip in the evening. However, since all the masks were leaking, we could not snorkel at all and Mr. Dani should actively look into this area to provide even greater value to his customers. Mr. Alan – the boatman is an amazing guy with a cool head and a real feel for the boat and the sea. He also took us for a fishing trip in the evening (in a small boat) and we caught 6 fish among the three of us including a medium sized shark all in an hour and by line fishing only.

On returning back to the hotel, they agreed to make the shark curry and it was so delicious that we even had it for lunch the next day. Thank you,Mr. Dani, Lise and Pearl !

In our opinion, one should certainly visit the smaller islands while in Seychelles like Praslin, La Digue – is particularly calm, clean and picturesque. Mahe can be used as a place to relax for 2-3 nights, with a little sightseeing, on the way back home & Casadani is the ideal place just to do that! Moreover duty free prices at Seychelles airport are atleast 20-25 % cheaper than Dubai.

Room Tip: Try for the self-catering type of villas, although the other rooms are also good.

We arrived at the casadani hotel and It did not started well. We were asked to inform the hotel of our time of arrival at the jetty, in order fo them to pick us up. We had to wait more than an hour before the bus arrived. Plus, at our arrival, we were informed that we had to pay 15€ for transfer, and 20€ to have one to get to the airport on our last day.
After that welcoming surprise, we checked in for our room. We did not take any breakfeast nor lunch so we can't argue about that part.
The room was clean, air conditioning was working fine, but the TV was impossible to use because the antenna was not made for the kind of equipement in the premises.
Since we were on the ground floor, mornings were a bit noisy due to other tourists departures.
On the other side, receptionnists were really understanding and helpful when we asked for boat trip, car rental, or transfer modalities.

At the end, the main problem was the location of the hotel. Bel Ombre is 3km away of the beautiful Beau Vallon Beach, and thus of the restaurant, cash dispensers and other commodities useful to tourists. There's only few groceries and an average beach at close distance. You'll NEED to rent a car to do anything.

We stayed at casadani for three nights, which we enjoyed. we had a free pickup from the jetty, the way to the airport we paid some 15 euros. Food was great, a huge variety of creol and some italian food - during our stay, we met many italians there. Another great thing is the car rental that belongs to the hotel - no transfer to a car rental, just bord and enjoy your drive around the island. cars are quite new and comfortabe.

Nice place to stay--nice people, clean environment and great food!

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the best view--not at main guest house, but at the house further down.

I stayed in Casadani hotel in june. It was fabulous. The location is excellent. The terrace /restaurant had a breathtaking sea view of Silhouette and North Island. The food was excellecent it was like eating out of the hands of gods!!!!!!!!
The rooms were very clean, staff very nice . It was my home away from home. We rent a car very comfy.
We did many excursions , the team also was "MOLTO BRAVA".
We visited the new villas in La Digue. No word to describe the splendor . It was beautiful. We enjoyed our stay very much.
PS: I came across a comment made "PULCI IN CAMERA".THIS IS A VERY BIG LIE. THIS IS NOT TRUE AT ALL.....
CASADANI IS THE BEST......................

We stayed at casa dani for a week and everything was, well, sweet and easy. Rooms are comfortable and the atmosphere friendly. The food is really good and always fresh. The service really good: they pick you up from the airport and you don't need to worry about booking a car to visit the island (necessary in Mahe) 'casue they have cars at completive rates; wifi is available for free in the hotel; if you need a booking for any activities or restaurants (but you won't be tempted after trying the dinner...) you can ask and they will do it for you, also providing valuable suggestions; boat trips are organised regularly by Ivan, an Italian guy who is collaborating with Casa Dani, with pick up from the hotel. Everything is on your door step and easy. It's not the most fascinating place we have been to (it's not on the beach and and in general Mahe doesn't have the same wild and far-from-it-all feeling that La Digue has) but the structure is nice, the food is great, the service impeccable and the staff really helpful and all at absolutely reasonable prices. A good place to go also if you have children or specific dietary requests. Also, Casa Dani is conveniently located quite but not too much close to the airport. We will definitely stay here if we visit Seychelles again.

Casadani is well located, Jaqueline, Pearl, Lise are there to make sure you have everything you want and are able to do anything you want in the Seychelles. Mary and the entire staff see to it that it seems like you are home with your family. The rooms are large and kept clean, the food on half board is over the top, especially if you want the local seafood fare. Jimmy is a great source of information on the islands and speaks 4-5 languages. Alain is the fishing guide supreme. All in all, the Seychelles are paradise, Casadani and staff are your family while there. While not a luxury resort, you will be pleased with your stay at Casadani.
