I was lucky enough to go to Namibia, in order to work on the development of the marketing for a philanthropic venture that a client is managing in Namibia. Namely the setting up of educational opportunities for pre-school children in and around Okonjima in Namibia.
Although that was the focus of the visit I was able to stay at The Grand African Villa within the Okonjima Game Reserve. It was a fantastic experience, the villa is stunning and amazingly luxurious, with a view over a waterhole. The game drives that we were able to go on were memorable, seeing leopard, cheetah, giraffe, warthogs and all kinds of antelope.
The charibale foundation, AfriCat is also based here, rehabilitating large carnivores into the wild.
It is a beautiful place, so tranquil, so full of wildlife, surreal and yet innovative in terms of clearing thick bush to create natural savannah, with views from the hills to live in the memory forever
Chris Packham, the BBC wildlife presenter, says that he is constantly yearning to return to, to be back in Namibia. It’s like a magnet whose draw he cannot resist and he is never disappointed. He has been to Okonjima five times, lucky man!
As for me, I cannot wait to go back again.
