We live in Santa Maria and are always on the lookout for new places to go. When the Geko Gourmet opened next door, we went there within the first few days of its opening.
The ambience is really nice with a mediterranean theme and a free view into the kitchen. There weren't many guests at first and the server gave a lot of attention to our three-year old little hurricane. Brought him another chair, cleaned up without losing his smile when a glass fell over and generally entertained and, well, tolerated him.
So we were quite happy already, but when the food arrived that first impression was outshone by a huge margin! My husband's lamb was a dream, super tender and wonderfully seasoned. My fish dish was very tasty as well, and my only small complaint was a few bones in the "filet". For the little monster they whipped up a large plate of spagetti in tomato sauce which he couldn't finish, so we took the rest home. Oh, and have I mentioned the excellent self-made grissini bread sticks? The best grissini I had in my life, I swear!
Altogether an excellent experience. We have since recommended the Geko to several of our clients and everyone was just as pleased. We'll definitely be back.
