Lovely little restaurant but big on taste, atmosphere and great service.

Our fussy family of five had a lovely meal and the fresh fish (I had Wahoo) was gorgeous. The staff were more than helpful, especially given the tight fit and difficulty in moving around the tables. We were really pleased we made the effort to find it and book a table. Cape Verde encapsulated in a tiny place. We felt sorry for the hundreds of people confined in the all-exclusive resorts around the town as they might not get a chance to sample the lovely food and welcoming staff.

Great value cooked fresh whilst you wait , great company and all round excellent value. get in early or book because theres limited table space , an amazing menu for such a small place . best fish and chips Ive tasted on the whole island , but also great salads ,steaks burgers and sandwiches whch can be tailored to order, great job! the fresh fish I noticed is very popular and one more thing proper vegetables which seem to be in limited supply on the rest of the island!

very small place, very cosy and friendly but you need to be prepared hearing everything anyone says :)
the service is very good and quick for santa maria standards.
the fish is great, specially the tuna tartare and the wahoo carpaccio.
The lobster is of a kind I never tried before, tiger-striped red and white, it's delicious and surely the cheapest lobster ever.
The fish&chips is done with wahoo, works very well.
the house wine is ok but not more, the local beer strela is better.
I didn't tried myself but the meat dishes are ok and good but not as the fish dishes.
the location is very central but the little alley is not so nice.

Many thanks for your very positive review. I'm sorry the house wine was not to your taste. We frequently offer guests a chance to taste our house wine before ordering and I apologise if you were not offered this. We do also stock a selection of nice bottled wines from Cape Verde (one from the island of Fogo is particularly popular) as well as Portugal and Italy and I do hope you were given our wine list during your visit. Please do visit us again if you book another trip to Cape Verde.

The owner is english which is a plus. It is located in a side street off the main street, a small, simple but nicely decorated and clean restaurant. Helpful staff, good food, and you can either have a table out on the street or inside. The kitchen is rather small, so you may have to wait a bit, but if you make yourself be on "Cabo Verde time", it is no problem. They also have live music - genuine Cabo Verde style; a bit fado-like, some guitars and singing - very nice ...

Hi and many thanks for your very positive feedback and comments. Yes our kitchen is rather compact and we are currently looking at options to increase our cooking capacity. I think it worth mentioning unlike some other restaurants we cook every dish fresh to order so clients may experience a little longer waiting time when we are very busy. Hope to see you back here again one day.

Tucked away in a side lane amongst the ambiance of Cape Verde life. It's quite small so you need to book a table. We were greeted warmly by Nick, the team are very friendly and helpful. Nice menu choices and food is cooked to perfection, good portions, we went back 3 times in the week we were there. You must try their version of English Fish, Chips & Mushy Peas, you wont be dissapointed but don't expect cod or haddock

Thank you very much for your review and good to know you enjoyed our fresh fish & chips. Yes we can't get cod or haddock here maybe the sea is too warm for them! We use a locally caught fish instead which also makes a fine carpaccio. Hope to see you here again one day.
