There is a great, white, sandy beach in Santa Maria, and it is nice to relax on the beach or make a stroll along the shore. Many surfers come here because of the wind which is plentiful day and night. Except from the beach neither Sal nor Santa Maria has very much to offer. The island is small and dry with few real attractions. The village is fairly charmless and the food is not that great. Go for fish, the only product they don't have to import.
